Rob Reiner's deranged response to Kyle Rittenhouse visiting Trump confirms 'meathead' status

Filmmaker Rob Reiner has consistently bad takes when it comes to American politics, and his meltdown over Kyle Rittenhouse’s trip to visit former President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Florida is no exception.

Donald Trump Jr. posted a photo of Trump and Rittenhouse, and the very idea of the two together sent liberals to the moon. But no tweet was more offensively brain-dead than Reiner’s.

“An underaged kid illegally takes an assault rifle across state lines, kills two people, injures another, then is welcomed with open arms at Mar-a-Lago by the leader of the Republican Party, a mentally ill Racist. This is where we are. God help US,” Reiner tweeted, getting a key aspect of the case wrong, undoubtedly for internet clout.

Politifact rated the claim that Rittenhouse’s mother “drove him across state lines and dropped him off in the middle of a riot armed with an assault rifle” as false, claiming that there is no evidence that the teen was armed at the time he left his house to head to Kenosha, prior to the riots.

“According to court documents and testimony, Kyle Rittenhouse arrived in Kenosha on his own and went to the protest with a friend who provided him with the gun. The gun was kept at the home of the friend’s stepfather in Kenosha,” wrote Politifact on November 15.

But Reiner’s meltdown isn’t isolated to Wednesday. On November 23, he vague-posted about Trump, and how bad the United States is because he hasn’t been charged with “trying to violently overthrow the United States Government” despite that never happening.
