If Kyle Rittenhouse takes Nicholas Sandmann’s advice and files defamation suits against those who smeared him, President Joe Biden could conceivably find himself in a world of hurt, according to one extremely reputable expert.
That expert, attorney Todd McMurtry, succeeded in helping Sandmann reach a settlement last year with one of the most well-known media organizations in the world, CNN, over the network’s defamatory coverage of the 2019 Lincoln Memorial incident.
Speaking with Fox News following Rittenhouse’s acquittal Friday, McMurtry said that Biden most certainly could be held accountable for his own smear via a defamation suit, though he cautioned that the suit wouldn’t necessarily be successful.
The then-Democrat nominee’s smear occurred a day after the first 2020 presidential debate last year when he posted a tweet accusing then-incumbent President Donald Trump of having “refused to disavow white supremacists on the debate stage last night.”
What specifically occurred during the debate is that, when pressed to disavow white supremacist violence, the president correctly noted that the vast majority of the violence he was seeing around him was stemming from the left. And yet, he pointed out, Biden wasn’t being asked to condemn that clear-cut violence.
The then-Democrat nominee tried to refute this in his tweet by including a video that purported to contain footage of white supremacists acting out violently.
But also included among the compilation of white supremacists was a still shot of then-17-year-old Rittenhouse from the Kenosha riots that made him look like a murderous, violent white supremacist thug and killer.
The defamatory tweet still remains up to this day:

Rittenhouse is not a white supremacist, and on Friday he was acquitted of all charges stemming from the Aug. 25th shootings in Kenosha.
It’s clear now from video evidence and the acquittal that when the young man shot three violent left-wing extremists, two of them fatally, he did so in self-defense, as the three men had been chasing him, reportedly with the intent to harm him.
The insinuation that Rittenhouse is or was a white supremacist — a murderous, violent one to boot — is, therefore, straight-up defamatory.
“What you take from that tweet is that Kyle Rittenhouse was using his rifle and engaging in white supremacist misconduct so it’s actionable” toward a defamation suit, McMurtry explained to Fox News.
“Not necessarily going to win, but it’s actionable,” he added.
Keep in mind that much of the same was originally said of Sandmann’s thus-far extremely successful suits. While everybody acknowledged that he had viable defamation cases against CNN, in addition to The Washington Post and other outlets, there was little expectation that he would win.
Yet he technically has, thanks to a number of media outlets choosing to settle rather than go to trial:

Given Sandmann’s success in the ring, Rittenhouse’s supporters have begun directly warning the current president of the United States of the “payback” that potentially awaits his “white privileged a–.”

You should never have defamed Mr. Rittenhouse before the trial even began. I hope Kyle sues you and gets a piece of your corrupt money.

I wouldn’t expect anything positive from you, since you think you are above the law. I hope Kyle sues your ass for throwing out lies and trying to stir the pot. You don’t deserve anything but the tides turning against you. You reap what you sew. Let’s go Brandon!

Hey @POTUS remember you have a duty to hold all communications and ads you had related to your libel/defamation of a minor child (Kyle). So when he sues the crap out of you (since he was found INNOCENT) and you called him a white supremacist. Say good bye to lots of money.

@POTUS Joe, you are a sorry excuse for humanity! Remember this, THE FACTS of the case supported the verdicts! I hope he sues your white privileged ass to kingdom come and back! You’re a disgrace to the office, our country and your own family! RESIGN NOW!!!

ANd many have noted reports that the Biden family is linked to a whole lot of “corrupt money.”
So will Rittenhouse pursue lawsuits or not? It’s possible he’ll answer that question when he appears on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Monday.
The young man’s mother, Wendy, has for her part not been remotely shy about expressing her disgust over the current president’s smear.
“When I saw that [tweet] I was shocked, I was angry. President Biden don’t know my son whatsoever, and he’s not a White supremacist. He’s not a racist. And [Biden] did that for the votes. And I was so angry for a while at him and what he did to my son. He defamed him,” she told Fox News host Sean Hannity last week.

Mama tends to know best, so if mama says her son was defamed, it’d probably be best to believe her.
