Biden’s choice of ‘infrastructure czar’ who will oversee massive spending draws LOTS of questions

The White House announced on Sunday that President Joe Biden named former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu as senior adviser and infrastructure coordinator on the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill.

The move comes as Biden is set to sign the infrastructure bill into law during a White House ceremony on Monday, with the administration saying they chose Landrieu, who was mayor of New Orleans from 2010 to 2018, and also served as lieutenant governor in Louisiana, because of his experience leading the city, as well as for his relationships with leaders at both state and municipal levels, Fox News reported.

“In this role, Landrieu will oversee the most significant and comprehensive investments in American infrastructure in generations—work that independent experts verify will create millions of high-paying, union jobs while boosting our economic competitiveness in the world, strengthening our supply chains, and acting against inflation for the long term,” the White House said.

Landrieu released a statement making it clear that he is fully on board with the woke agenda of the left-wing faction that controls the Biden Administration.

“I am thankful to the President and honored to be tasked with coordinating the largest infrastructure investment in generations,” Landrieu said in a statement. “Our work will require strong partnerships across the government and with state and local leaders, business and labor to create good-paying jobs and rebuild America for the middle class. We will also ensure these major investments achieve the President’s goals of combating climate change and advancing equity.”

On that note, Twitchy highlighted a 2019 tweet on Landrieu from John Stanton, editor of The Gambit and a New Orleans resident: “It will never cease to amaze me that Mitch Landrieu rightfully made the politically hard decision to tear down all those racist statues but was so bad at every other part of his job he forgot to build a road to the goddamn new airport.”

In 2018, Stanton tweeted: “Wtf is the fascination amongst national democrats with Mitch landrieu about? Are they really into sh–ty roads, not having drinking water, random flooding and free for all murdering?”

Neil Bradley, chief policy officer at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, seemed to laud the move.

“Appointing someone with the background and experience of having been a mayor and a state official responsible for infrastructure projects sends an important signal that the administration is focused on delivering on the promises and the opportunities that this bill presents,” Bradley said, according to The Wall Street Journal

But New Orleans? Has anyone been paying attention to the myriad of infrastructure challenges the city has endured over the recent years due to hurricanes? Landrieu assumed office as mayor just days after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill disaster and speaking of disasters, the Democrat had the lessons of Hurricane Katrina to guide him as mayor. Recent experiences with Hurricane Ida and its impact on the city’s power grid would suggest few lessons were learned.

There was speculation that the lofty assignment would help position Landrieu as a viable 2024 option, in furtherance of what Stephen L. Miller called the “worst kept secret” — Biden potentially being the only one in the dark

“It’s fun watching these guys dance around the obvious narrative and the current worst kept secret: Biden will not be in for 2024 whether he thinks he is or not. None of them are coming out directly to say it but they all drop things like this,” he tweeted.

Another observation may speak volumes about what administration insiders think about Vice President Kamala Harris being the 2024 Democratic nominee
