Is it time for someone in her entourage to at least consider taking away Cher’s cell phone for her own good or perhaps just deactivating the caps-lock function?
The pop diva and actress prompted widespread ridicule on Saturday with a geographically or geopolitically inaccurate tweet that prompted a follow-up in which she admitted that “To Everyone, when I Started To research I Read It Wrong. GIMME A fn BREAK JUDGE MY HEART NOT JUST MY STAT…”
In the original posting to her nearly four million followers, Joe Biden fangirl Cher, 75, offered this somewhat incomprehensible shorthand (as adjusted to sentence case and text for emojis to make it somewhat easier to decipher):
“Africa’s not a poor country, whites have stolen, & continue [to] [steal] its wealth. Why have so many white ppl/govs. (throughout history) used brute force, & military [to] hurt & kill ppl of color⁉️ Why are BLM still fighting [for] right [to] vote⁉️ Will [U.S. be] white is right forever⁉️ Will it [be] 1963 in [the U.S.] forever,” Cher claimed.

The iconic performer also expressed all-caps outrage when Republican Glenn Youngkin won the Virginia governorship earlier this month.
Cher’s brainless meltdown over Youngkin’s victory is worth the price of admission https://t.co/5gl9BsF89v

The songstress originally rose to entertainment popularity as part of the Sonny & Cher husband-and-wife team.
The duo, who divorced in 1975, apparently couldn’t have been more different politically. Sonny Bono, who passed away in 1998 after a skiing accident, was a Republican congressman for the Palm Springs, Calif., area from 1995 until his death. Sonny’s wife, Mary Bono, succeeded him in the U.S House of Representatives until she was defeated in the 2012 election.
Although Cher’s social media activity establishes that she is far left, she took to Twitter in April 2019 to imply that America should prioritize taking care of homeless veterans over illegal immigrants. This caused then-President Trump to tweet that he finally found an area of agreement with Cher.
She even criticized then-president candidate Bernie Sanders for wanting to restore voting rights to violent convicted felons.
In any event, Cher’s latest pronouncement has led to a huge reaction, with some supporters also weighing in. Here is just a sample of the response:

She had to research whether Africa was a country … and still got it wrong. https://t.co/2qZEYdiY8R

Africa isn’t any sort of country, but I’ll have whatever drugs you’re having tonight. https://t.co/lsSEasHe7x

omg. where to even start with this.
Africa = continent
Africa = one of the most poorest continents on the planet.
White people didn’t ‘steel’ its wealth.
Hundreds of white farmers have been literally butchered in S. Africa.
Black Christians have been murdered in the thousands. https://t.co/PAs3ywXSNi— Karolina (@SweetRuakh) November 14, 2021
Well I’m African and Africa is not a country. It’s a continent. Secondly, all this pandering to Africans to make yourself feel good doesn’t help. As much as Western society had some negative influence in Africa, the current problem of Africa is it’s very horrible leadership.

I know everyone’s correcting you on calling Africa a country. It seems more important to point out that BLM already has the right to vote.
— Fuzzy Chimp 🇺🇸 (@fuzzychimpcom) November 14, 2021
I had a hard time reading past “steel”. 🤣😬
— Kristi (@Kristi_Weaver4) November 14, 2021
Also, nice energy, but remember Africa is not a country, it’s a continent with 54 countries, 4 language families, with 2,000 languages, and 3,000 tribes.

To all you people who felt the need to correct ‘country’ and ‘steel’, get over it!!! Pay attention to her message FFS! Anyone should be able to tell she was venting and mistakes happen. I’m damn sure everyone who pointed them out has made their own typos
— MmmChocolate (@Ginger_JasperMD) November 14, 2021
@cher I got you babe but the continent is, and for some time has been, riddled with corruption outside if that of the white man. White imperialism has played its part but don’t mistake it as the only issue at play in the myriad of complex issues that restrict African progression

As long as the government is mostly made up of old rich white people with no term limits then nothing will change. We have to force term limits in congress so they actually have to work for and care about the rest of us
— Amanda Carwyle (@01Littlefeet) November 14, 2021
Ma’am I’m saying with all due respect, unfortunately there is not one country in Africa that has white politicians as the ruling party, everyone can vote and unfortunately the discrimination is now mostly against white people. Read up about all the anti white rules in RSA
— Christo van der Westhuizen (@ChristovanderW3) November 14, 2021
Cher also punctuated, as it were, her original statement with this add-on:
FK THIS..START OUT TO BRING A TRUTH, & SOME HUMANITY,ACKNOWLEDE MISTAKE & GET HAMMERED FOR IT.
I KNOW ITS A CONTINENT…IVE BEEN TO 3 COUNTRIES… AND I BUILT & RUN A SCHOOL FOR POOR CHILDREN…— Cher (@cher) November 14, 2021
