Florida Governor Ron DeSantis had no idea what Biden administration Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was talking about when he said that some of America’s infrastructure was built with racist intentions/effects.

When asked to respond to the idea of reparations for these racist roads, DeSantis responded that he would have to “look into that” but dismissed the comments as “weird stuff” from Buttigieg.

“I heard some stuff, some weird stuff, from the Secretary of Transportation trying to make this about social issues and to me a road’s a road. So I don’t know, I’d have to take a look at that,” DeSantis said, much like a sane human being may say.

The video of his comments was posted on “The Recount” Twitter page, which referred to the thought that infrastructure was used as a racial weapon as “common knowledge.”

The national conversation regarding roads and their racist roots started on Monday, when “journalist” April Ryan asked Buttigieg how Biden’s administration plans to take on the hateful infrastructure and “deconstruct the racism that was built into the roadways.”

His response was what one would come to expect from an administration more concerned with keeping the radical wing of their party happy, instead of working to unite and support all Americans across the board. That’s to say, it pandered to the progressive left.

“As to where we target those dollars, you know, I’m still surprised that some people were surprised when I pointed to the fact that if a highway was built for the purpose of dividing a white and a black neighborhood, or if an underpass was constructed such that a bus carrying mostly black and Puerto Rican kids to a beach — or that would have been — in New York was designed too low for it to pass by, that that obviously reflects racism that went into those design choices,” Buttigieg responded.

“I don’t think we have anything to lose by confronting that simple reality. And I think we have everything to gain by acknowledging it and then dealing with it, which is why the Reconnecting Communities — that billion dollars — is something we want to get to work right away putting to work,” he added.

It’s unclear if Buttigieg has peeked in on the national debt any time recently.

Twitter’s response to DeSantis’ common sense reply was, of course, mixed:
