Ex-Raiders player screams at police, hospital staff after driving drunk, killing woman in horrific crash: Report

Former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was seen out at a golf range and partying in the hours before he crashed his speeding Corvette into another vehicle, causing it to burst into flames and kill its 23-year-old female driver.

In addition, according to the Daily Mail, Ruggs hollered at police and hospital staff when he was questioned about the fatal Tuesday morning crash in Vegas.

The player, who has been released by the Raiders organization following the incident, “began to yell, ‘Get me the f**k out of here,'” said a police report that was obtained by local media outlet KLAS. “Ruggs continued to yell from his bed and refused to listen to hospital staff.”

The collision occurred around 3:40 a.m., according to reports, after Ruggs slammed into a Toyota Rav4 driven by Tina Tintor. After reaching a top speed of around 156 mph, Ruggs was reportedly traveling at around 127 mph when he hit the other vehicle, according to Las Vegas police.

Officers also allege that Ruggs was highly intoxicated when he struck Tintor’s SUV. She was burned alive along with her dog; witnesses reported hearing her scream for help but she couldn’t escape or be reached. The former NFL wideout and his girlfriend, Rudy Washington, were both seriously injured.

Photos published online show the Rav4 in flames and the front end of Ruggs’ Corvette demolished.

As police arrived at the hospital to get a statement from Ruggs, he reportedly told them to “get out of here” while also refusing to submit to a blood-alcohol test, the report obtained by the local outlet noted. He also responded “no” several times and told officers that he had no recollection of what happened.

Later, a judge granted approval for a warrant so police could draw a blood alcohol at University Medical Center. Prosecutors have said that Ruggs’ BA was 0.161, or two times the legal limit in Nevada.

About four hours before the accident, video uploaded to social media shows Ruggs swinging golf balls at TopGolf in the city as Washington was recording him. She is seated with another man at a table with several glasses.

The police report said that Ruggs told officers he was driving home when the accident occurred.

“When I asked Ruggs to clarify, he just repeated, ‘home, home,’ and then began mumbling,” said the police report, as the officer went on to say that Ruggs’ speech was “not understandable” and his overall demeanor was “unresponsive.”

The report also said that the wideout attempted to dislodge the IV from his arm and was uncooperative with E.R. staff.

“As medical staff advised Ruggs to stop removing the medical equipment, Ruggs began to yell, ‘Get me the **** out of here,'” said the report. “Ruggs continued to yell from his bed and refused to listen to hospital staff and yelled they were not doing anything for him.

“As I spoke with Ruggs I asked if he would open his eyes,” the report continued. “At that time, Ruggs refused to answer any questions nor cooperate by opening his eyes.”

The report also said that Washington confirmed the pair were drinking and had visited the TopGolf driving range earlier in the evening, but she couldn’t say how many drinks he had.

She also told officers that just before the collision, Ruggs said to her, “What is this guy doing?” before hitting his brakes.

Tintor’s vehicle reportedly slid some 570 feet before it came to a stop and began to burn shortly thereafter. Witnesses on the scene quickly said she was alive and screaming but trapped inside the vehicle.

Reports said that Tintor was close to getting her U.S. citizenship.

Earlier this year, Ruggs, 22, was signed to a four-year, $16 million deal with the Raiders. He is facing felony charges of DUI causing death and reckless driving and reportedly posted bail set at $150,000.
