‘The Five’ shreds ‘Captain Superior’ Obama for accusing concerned parents of ‘fake outrage’

Former President Obama spoke Saturday at a rally in Richmond, VA while stumping for Democrat Terry McAuliffe and his gubernatorial campaign, saying that outrage among parents over the teaching of Critical Race Theory and heavy-handed control from school boards across the country is simply “phony trumped-up culture wars.”

He suggested it only exists because right-wing media outlets created and fostered the idea, but the panelists of Fox News’ “The Five” had another theory: It is Obama himself who started the culture war years ago when he was president.

While co-host Greg Gutfeld noted it had been a while since Americans had been lectured by ‘Captain Superior’ [Obama], co-host Jesse Watters compared the Illinois Democrat to Attorney General Merrick Garland, arguing that like the AG, Obama pays attention only to one-sided news.

“The AG comes out and bombs and is clueless on the whole thing and I don’t want anything to do with it. CNN doesn’t cover the story, doesn’t even break on CNN and Fox covers it and so Barack Obama says you know that culture war?” he said, referring specifically to the contentious situation in Loudoun County as it pertains to CRT and transgender curriculum.

“Let’s talk about culture wars. This is a culture war his side started that his side is now losing and now he says this is a phony culture war. You don’t get to start it and then call it phony once you start losing, that’s not how this works,” Watters continued, suggesting that since the culture war isn’t going their way, leftists like Obama will now say it doesn’t exist.

“Let me tell you a little bit about how business works in TV, Barack Obama; Fox News covers the culture war that you started because it is real news so people come to Fox to watch real news. CNN doesn’t cover the story and so people don’t want to go to CNN and their ratings go down – That’s how this works,” Watters added.

Co-host and Virginia native Dagen McDowell remarked that her fellow Virginians on both sides of the political aisle reject Obama’s characterization of righteously angry parents.

“It is a loser to try to stifle the speech of parents — which is what they are doing, it was a threat,” she said.

“[C]ritical Race Theory is taught and promoted in Virginia schools and there is plenty of evidence that Terry McAuliffe is lying about; that President Obama is lying about – and they are telling that to the parents who see it firsthand.”

The panel made note of the fact that, in a tight race in what is normally a solid blue state, McAuliffe will host President Biden at another rally on Tuesday in Pentagon City. Considering Biden’s continued downward spiral, both in poll numbers and in his mental faculties, choosing him to stump for the candidate is arguably questionable in the best case and desperate in the worst.

McAuliffe’s opponent, Republican Glenn Youngkin will campaign in the city of South Boston on Tuesday as well.

During “The Five” broadcast, news broke that the 15-year-old teenager charged in two separate sexual assault incidents – cases which the Loudoun school board had denied any knowledge of – has been found guilty at least in one, with sentencing planned for next month after the conclusion of the second trial.

“We are relieved that justice was served today for the Smith’s daughter,” Bill Stanley of the Stanley Law Group, who represented the victim, said in a statement. “This horrible incident has deeply affected the Smith family, and they are grateful for today’s outcome.”

The fallout from the discovery of a possible cover-up in the sexual assault cases, both defined as “forcible sodomy,” has resulted in at least one resignation from the county’s school board, and the deletion of a Twitter account owned by the Superintendent of Loudoun County Public Schools. The county has been ground-zero for the national debate over CRT and transgender curriculum for many months now, and will almost surely be a major factor in Virginia’s gubernatorial election next month.
