Senator Joe Manchin remains an obstacle to President Joe Biden’s ambitious plans to do away with traditional energy sources in favor of the less reliable “sustainable” options, including wind and solar power, and progressives are throwing a temper tantrum.
With the monstrous $3.5 trillion “Build Back Better” legislative package that contains key elements of the Green New Deal currently stalled, angry activists are directing their rage at Manchin, who despite enormous pressure, has refused to get with the program.
The West Virginia Democrat could force the White House into walking back one of its top priorities, the retirement of coal and gas power plants in favor of the European-style energy strategy that will be a part of an extreme transformative agenda that will render American practically unrecognizable as the government pursues the progressive utopia preferred by the likes of Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Heads exploded following a New York Times report that White House aides were scrambling to appease Manchin, who “strongly opposes the clean electricity program,” and may cut the climate provision from the legislation in order to get his support for the rest of the bill which is stuffed with funding for social engineering programs along with other far-left wishlist items.
One blue-check Twitter activist, Amy Westervelt, who identifies as an “Investigative journo” per her bio, hysterically suggested that Manchin holds the fate of humanity in his hands and everyone is doomed if he isn’t stopped.
If Manchin isn’t stopped, climate destruction is *ensured*. That’s what we’re talking about here.

Westervelt’s overwrought attempt to portray Manchin as a villain straight out of a James Bond movie was met with scorn and ridicule by other Twitter users.
The idea that the passage of Joe Biden's tax and spend legislative agenda is the watershed moment in the survival of the planet is so nuts that kids with peanut allergies shouldn't come within 50 feet of this Twitter account. https://t.co/KrHQ0RZvsF

sure if you ignore China, India, Europe, and the Middle East. if you discount all those regions then yes the US is fully responsible

I’ve heard the same apocalyptic doom and gloom since the 70’s. Blah blah.
— Shermie’s Pop (@WallysPop) October 16, 2021
Apocalyptic conjecture and fearmongering from leftists who have become the equivalent of a doomsday cult have made rational debate about the effects of climate change virtually impossible and like so many others on the left, Westervelt has advocated for extremism in the push for net-zero emissions.
Periodic reminder that the window of opportunity for moderate solutions on climate was slammed shut in favor of oil company profits for 30 years and now all of the options are extreme.

The left’s growing frustration with Manchin was evident when Comrade Bernie wrote an op-ed that was published in the Charleston Gazette-Mail with the obvious intent being to push West Virginians into confronting their senator.
GAZETTE-MAIL EXCLUSIVE: @SenSanders says "We need every Democrat," calls for Manchin to support Build Back Better Bill. Read the op-ed 👉https://t.co/2PW3TbtvrF pic.twitter.com/FTFNLAJ7Ax

According to Sanders, the “existential threat of climate change. With the planet becoming warmer and warmer, with unprecedented forest fires, drought, floods and extreme weather disturbances, and when scientists tell us that we only have a few years to avoid irreparable damage to our country and planet, this legislation begins the process of cutting carbon emissions and transforming our energy systems away from fossil fuel and into energy efficiency and sustainable energy.”
With Twitter users claiming Manchin will be responsible for the extinction of the human species and Sen. Sanders egging them on, it could push unstable individuals into striking out violently.
After all, it’s not like one of Bernie’s supporters hasn’t already done so when a deranged leftist attempted to massacre the entire Republican congressional baseball team in 2017.
