Instead of dealing with the supply chain crisis that threatens to wreck Christmas for millions of Americans, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg made an appearance on MSNBC this Friday to talk trash about his critics.
Criticism against Buttigieg has been mounting ever since it was learned earlier in the week that he’s been away for at least two months on parental leave.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson took a particularly fierce shot at him Thursday, mocking the MIA official for running off in the middle of a crisis “to learn how to breastfeed.”
“Pete Buttigieg has been on leave from his job since August after adopting a child – paternity leave they call it, trying to figure out how to breastfeed. No word on how that went. But now he’s back in office as the transportation secretary, and he’s deeply amused, he says, to see that dozens of container ships can’t get into this country,” the host said.

The part about being “amused” was a reference to a joke Buttigieg had made Wednesday about the American children who’re slated to miss out on the joy of Christmas this year because of the country’s jammed ports.
It appeared, for all intents and purposes, that Carlson had simply been giving Buttigieg a taste of his own wicked sense of humor.
Nevertheless, asked by far-left MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace on Friday to respond to the Fox News host’s criticism, the transportation secretary essentially made the case that his being more concerned about his family instead of the millions of families in America whose lives depend on him makes him “pro-family.”
“I guess he just doesn’t understand the concept of bottle feeding, let alone the concept of paternity leave. But what is really strange is that, you know, this is from a side of the aisle that used to claim the mantle of being pro-family,” he said.
“What we have right now is an administration that’s actually pro-family. I’m blessed to be able to experience that as an employee, being able to have the flexibility to take care of our newborn children,” Buttigieg added.

Wallace responded by dropping the homophobia card.
“It feels homophobic to suggest that you were trying to figure out breastfeeding. I mean, it feels dirtier than that. How does this attack land for you and Chasten?” she asked, referencing the transportation secretary’s husband.
Buttigieg responded by smearing Carlson.
“Well, look, this attack is coming from a guy who has yet to explain his apparent approval for the assassination of Harvey Milk. So, obviously, we know that there’s some dark places where some of these attitudes come from,” he said.
“But I also note that that doesn’t speak for the country. I don’t think that even speaks for most people on the other side of the aisle from the party that I belong to,” he added.
According to The Advocate, Carlson was a member of the Dan White Society during his college days at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn.
Dan White was the mentally unwell San Francisco politician who murdered San Francisco Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk on Nov. 27th, 1978, over anger about perceived corruption.
Because Milk was openly gay, much focus was placed on his sexual orientation versus the overall crime. White, for his part, eventually committed suicide after serving a stint in prison.
While Carlson has yet to explain his involvement with the group, it’s a smear to say that his involvement means he condones the assassination of both Moscone and Milk.
As for Buttigieg’s claim that Carlson doesn’t speak for most Republicans, the backlash against him from the right has, in fact, been widespread. Even former Trump administration official Ric Grenell, who himself is openly gay, has cried foul.
It’s clear @PeteButtigieg was hired because he’s gay.

The irony of Buttigieg’s attacks on the right is that the only reason he was even able to partake in paternity leave (versus sticking around to remedy the nation’s supply chain crisis) was reportedly because of legislation signed into law by former President Donald Trump, a Republican.
