GOP ‘Fight for Schools’ event turns into heated shouting match with Dem activist in Loudoun County

Once again, Loudoun County is in the headlines. This time, it involves a public shouting match between parents and a Democratic Party activist at a rally in front of the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) administrative building in Loudoun, Virginia.

The woman, who was a member of the Loudoun County Democratic Committee (LCDC), was there in opposition to the Fight for Schools rally, which was organized by Republican Party activist Ian Prior, and had a little over twenty attendees, reported Fox News.

Prior was in the middle of giving a speech to the gathering, giving a list of grievances and accusations against LCPS, and calling upon the Department of Justice (DOJ) to initiate Title IX investigations into LCPS. For most of this, the woman from LCDC simply stood off-camera, without comment.

Periodically, though, she would shout questions and comments, such as “why would you assume that?” Prior didn’t make any attempt to respond to her for most of the event, and there was no back-and-forth until nearly the end, when Prior finally challenged her back, asking “you’re here to defend this?”

The woman’s reply, “yes,” prompted some angry parents to tell her “you are disgusting,” which prompted the woman to launch into a statement about her own intentions and purposes, as Prior and some parents attempted to shout her down:

“I’m saying that they deserve an investigation, and that this shouldn’t be a witch hunt. You don’t know what the facts are. No one does. None of you know what the facts are. This is a witch hunt.”

The LCDC activist later stated to Fox News that she was in attendance of the meeting in her capacity as a private citizen, not as a representative of LCDC. She told Fox News that she was there to see what the attendees “had to say, you know, how much was fact and how much was assumption.”

“And there was a lot of assumptions being made which is what we feared is that, you know, we don’t have the facts yet because the police report’s not available… You’re actually threatening the investigation by making this kind of circus around it,” the woman told Fox News.

Independent of the woman, LCDC Chairwoman Lissa Savaglio issued a statement to Fox News that called Fight for Schools “disgraceful,” and accused the parents involved of seeking to politicize the situation for their own gain:

“For far too long Fight For Schools has been using our children as political props, campaigning with Republican insurrectionists like Dave LaRock and seeking to de-fund our public schools. It is disgraceful that they would seek to weaponize an event before we, as a community, have a comprehensive view of the facts. It is clear that rather than respect the victims and the legal process, they are intent on creating fear and division for their own political gain.”

The latest drama to flare up in Loudoun County was sparked by allegations of sexual assault by a gender-fluid teen against a female student in the girl’s bathroom, which was then allegedly covered up, and led to another assault at a different high school. Outraged parents are demanding action, and wanting to know why the school board allegedly tried to sweep the incidents under the rug.

“We can confirm a May 28, 2021 case that involved a thorough 2-month-long investigation that was conducted to determine the facts of the case prior to arrest. This case is still pending court proceedings. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is not able to provide any documents that pertain to a pending case,” the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office told Fox News.

This is on top of the ongoing, and very public, battle being waged in Loudoun over the teaching of Critical Race Theory. A recent memo from Attorney General Merrick Garland ordering the FBI to look into parents allegedly threatening school board members has served to pour gas on the fire, and is seen by many outraged parents as tantamount to a declaration of war against them by the DOJ, and more broadly, by President Joe Biden and his administration.

Prior told Fox News that while violent threats are unacceptable, the Attorney General needs to be more narrow and specific:

“Do a better job specifying which incidents and what kind of conduct that they are talking about. Because by framing it as harassment and intimidation it is a chilling, unconstitutional memo. What is intimidation? Is that raising your voice at a school board meeting? What is harassment? Is that having a press conference right outside of the school building? I don’t know. You’d have to ask them.”

But it doesn’t end there.

On Thursday, it was revealed by the Daily Wire’s Luke Rosiak that Loudoun County schools may have been involved in yet another coverup of a horrific sexual assault against a student in 2018. According to Rosiak, arrests had been made in the alleged assault, but school officials failed to notify the state.

The drama is likely to continue, as Loudoun County continues to stay in the spotlight as an example in the microcosm of a greater battle for America’s soul.
