The wife and daughter of Jacksonville Jaguars’ coach Urban Meyer have come out in defense of the embattled NFL coach, thus strongly suggesting that they’re what are known as “ride or die chicks.”

Meyer became the talk of the town last week when a video emerged on social media showing him allowing a female bar patron, who certainly wasn’t his wife, to dance all up on him.

The video was reportedly recorded at his restaurant, the Urban Meyer’s Pint House, in Dublin, Ohio, after his team lost to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday, Sept. 30th.

The video triggered widespread controversy, prompting him to issue a public apology about the otherwise seemingly private/personal matter.

He said that instead of flying home right away following the game, he’d decided to remain in town so he could spend time with his grandkids at the restaurant.

“I just apologized to the team and the staff for being a distraction. It was stupid. So I explained everything that happened and owned it. It was stupid to … I should not have myself in that kind of position,” he said at a press conference Monday.

“I stayed to see the grandkids and we all went to dinner that night at a restaurant. There was a big group next to [us] and they wanted me to come over and take pictures and I did. They were trying to pull me out on the dance floor screwing around and I should have left,” he added.

In an additional statement made two days later, he stressed that his marriage and family life were just fine.

“I don’t want to get into our personal life but 37 years we’ve been together and it’s been awesome, man. And this speed bump’s not going to get in the way of that,” he reportedly said.

And indeed, despite the public backlash, neither his daughter, Gigi Meyer Pruett, nor his wife, Shelley Meyer, are stressing his moment of weakness.

In a Twitter statement posted Thursday afternoon, his wife reminded the public that “we all make mistakes” and “we are all sinners.”

She added that it would be her “last post on Twitter” because she didn’t “need the hate, vitriol, slander, trash.”

Look:

It’s not clear what sort of person would direct hate at the Meyer family over what is clearly a personal, private matter.

Yet even this tweet provoked hate: (** Language warning)

Notice the “anti-vax” complaints from leftists. It’s presumed the hate toward her is a result of Meyer being outspoken in her concerns about the coronavirus vaccine.

Meanwhile, Meyer’s daughter, Gigi, reportedly posted an Instagram Story sometime Thursday announcing that she too was sticking by her dad.

“The good news is we know my dad, and we know his character and he’s literally the most incredible person I know in my entire life, and I still hold true to that truth. Like that is my truth, doesn’t have to be your truth, but that’s my truth and I’m sticking to it,” she said.

“So we’ve all decided we’re going to move on, all right? We’re moving on and life is good. We are blessed. I have the most incredible family in the entire world,” she added.

Watch:

The last time Meyer was involved in a scandal was in 2018, when the then-Ohio State Buckeyes’ coach was placed on administrative leave “while the university investigated allegations that Meyer knew a longtime former assistant coach had been accused of domestic abuse in 2015,” as reported at the time by The New York Times.

Later that same year, he retired from coaching. But then three years later, he unexpectedly bounced back by announcing he’d been hired as the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
