Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis shared some heartbreaking news Monday, announcing in a statement that his wife, Casey DeSantis, has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Florida’s first lady, the mother of three small children with the governor, is 41 years old. They married in 2010 and their children are Madison, 4, Mason, 3, and 18 month-old Mamie.
“I am saddened to report that Florida’s esteemed First Lady and my beloved wife has been diagnosed with breast cancer,” the statement said. “As the mother of three young children, Casey is the centerpiece of our family and has made an impact on the lives of countless Floridians through her initiatives as First Lady. As she faces the most difficult test of her life, she will have not only have my unwavering support but the support of our entire family, as well as the prayers and well wishes from Floridians across our state. Casey is a true fighter, and she will never, never, never give up.”
There are four major initiatives being pushed by Mrs. DeSantis, including “Hope Florida – A Pathway to Prosperity, Economic Self-Sufficiency and Hope.”
Casey DeSantis is a former producer and Emmy award-winning television show host for the PGA tour, a three-time equestrian national champion, as well as a runner-up NCAA division one champion, according to Fox News.
Florida’s Republican Speaker Chris Sprowls — who doesn’t rate a blue check in the eyes of Twitter, apparently — shared the governor’s statement online, along with the message, “Shannon and I join in with the Members of the Florida House in prayer for the full and fast healing of Florida’s First Lady Casey DeSantis.”

Florida Senate President Wilton Simpson, also a Republican, offered prayers from the entire upper chamber: “The prayers of the entire Senate family are with our wonderful First Lady Casey DeSantis, Governor DeSantis and their entire family as they face this serious health challenge.”

Even Democrats like Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried, who is running against DeSantis in the state’s governor race, and their media allies who relentlessly go after DeSantis online with distorted attacks, bias, and misinformation responded to offer thoughts and prayers.
My heart goes out to our state’s First Lady Casey DeSantis. Floridians are in your corner, united in praying for strength for you and your family during this difficult time. 🙏

Sending strength to @FLCaseyDeSantis.
I lost my Mom to cancer when I was 13 years old and know how difficult navigating cancer is for families, especially when it’s your Mom.
Across party lines you will have ppl cheering you on w/this fight, including me. Stay strong. https://t.co/KYqus45Ume

If there is anything Florida’s First Family has proven, it is they are fighters.

At the same time, there were plenty of vile, disgusting responses from the hate-filled left, who often refer to DeSantis as “DeathSantis” for standing up for the rights of parents and Floridians, in general, to make their own decisions when it comes to personal health. To avoid directing traffic their way, here’s a short montage from the popular Twitter account “Jewish Deplorable.”
