NY gov set to deploy Natl. Guard, unlicensed retirees to replace healthcare workers who fail to meet vax deadline

The desperate push for vaccine mandates by heavy-handed government officials just reached a desperate level in the state of New York where Gov. Kathy Hochul has declared that she is prepared to send in the National Guard to replace healthcare workers who fail to adhere to a midnight deadline Monday to be vaccinated.

It’s not clear if unvaccinated healthcare workers will be fired immediately. There are reports that in some facilities noncompliant staff will be placed on unpaid leave but could return to work if they get vaccinated.

One thing that is known is that there are a substantial number of healthcare workers impacted. According to the state, as of September 22, 84% of all hospital employees were fully vaccinated, and as of September 23, 81% of staff at all adult care facilities and 77% of all staff at nursing home facilities were fully vaccinated.

Declaring that people have “a right to be treated by someone who will not make them get sicker,” Hochul said at a press briefing, “I need to keep people in the state safe and we’ll be nation-leading with our mandate which strikes at midnight tonight when everyone is expected in a hospital in the State of New York or a healthcare facility to have been vaccinated.”

As for the staff shortage that mandate brings with it, the governor discussed her plan to address that.

“I will be signing an executive order to give me the emergency powers necessary to address these shortages, where they occur. That’s going to allow me to deploy the National Guard who are medically trained; deploy people who’ve been retired, who may have had a licensed lapse; bring in people from elsewhere,” Hochul said. “That is not my first position though, my friends. My desire is to have the people who’ve been out there continue to work in their jobs, working in them safely. To all the other healthcare workers who are vaccinated, they also deserve to know that the people they are working with will not get them sick.”

The great flaw in this philosophy is that it ignores the status of those who have already contracted COVID-19 and have natural immunity. According to some reports, these individuals have even greater protection than those who have been vaccinated. Another flaw here is that with breakthrough cases being reported more and more, there’s no guarantee that a vaccinated person will not only contract the virus but spread it as well.

As for the employment status of unvaccinated healthcare workers, the New York State Department of Labor issued guidance to clarify that “workers who are terminated because of refusal to be vaccinated are not eligible for unemployment insurance absent a valid doctor-approved request for medical accommodation,” the governor’s official website stated.

Under President Joe Biden, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has required front-line health care workers to get vaccinated, and the state of California is expected to follow New York’s lead in requiring healthcare workers to be vaccinated.

While giving a homily Sunday at the Christian Cultural Center, a non-denominational megachurch, Gov. Hochul fell back on divine inspiration, proclaiming that Covid vaccines are “from God.”

“We are not through this pandemic,” Hochul said. “I wished we were, but I prayed a lot to God during this time and you know what, God did answer our prayers. He made the smartest men and women, the scientists, the doctors, the researchers — he made them come up with a vaccine. That is from God to us and we must say, ‘Thank you, God. Thank you.'”

Not only did the Democrat claim that those who refuse the vaccine “aren’t listening to God and what God wants,” she called on the vaccine faithful to be her “apostles.” Seriously.

“I need you to be my apostles,” she said. “I need you to go out and talk about it and say, ‘We owe this to each other. We love each other.’ Jesus taught us to love one another and how do you show that love but to care about each other enough to say, ‘Please get the vaccine because I love you and I want you to live? I want our kids to be safe when they’re in schools? I want to be safe when you go to a doctor’s office or to a hospital and are treated by somebody?’ You don’t want to get the virus from them. You’re already sick or you wouldn’t be there.”
