California will replace the term “alien” in the legislative vernacular after Governor Gavin Newsom signed a new law that he claims is aimed to help avoid discrimination.
The supposedly systemically racist term “alien” will be replaced with words like “noncitizen” and “immigrant” that are considered more compatible with California’s leftist regime as they appear to establish their own California version of Newspeak.
“As the nation’s most diverse state, we are stronger and more vibrant because of our immigrant communities,” Newsom said in a statement. “This important legislation removes the word ‘alien,’ which is not only an offensive term for a human being, but for far too long has fueled a divisive and hurtful narrative. By changing this term, we are ensuring California’s laws reflect our state’s values.”
The term “alien” is a trigger point for progressives who generally deem it xenophobic.
“In the 1990s, the word “alien” began to be used as a political dog whistle to express bigotry and hatred without using traditionally racist language,” Newsom’s office wrote.
Assemblywoman Luz Rivas (D) was the author behind AB 1096 that authorized the word swaps and she took to Twitter to proclaim victory with the enactment of the bill.
“Today marks a huge step forward in the fight to dismantle institutional racism targeted specifically towards our immigrant communities,” she wrote.
Governor @GavinNewsom just signed my bill, #AB1096 to remove the term “alien” from CA law when referring to immigrants and noncitizens!

“For decades, the term ‘alien’ has become weaponized and has been used in place of explicitly racial slurs to dehumanize immigrants,” she continued before thanking Newsom for supporting the bill and “taking action to remove derogatory language from our laws.”
I also want to thank Governor @GavinNewsom for recognizing the importance of this bill and taking action to remove derogatory language from our laws.https://t.co/D1iJM0PzkQ (3/3)

While some applauded the efforts as “straightforward but impactful work,” one user took the time to school the governor and assemblymember on the meaning of the term “illegal alien.”
Illegal Alien definition:
a foreigner who has entered or resides in a country unlawfully or without the country’s authorization.— Teresa Land (@MizTiques9) September 25, 2021
The mundane definition is surprisingly similar to the meaning explained on the woke Merriam-Webster that earlier this year changed the definition of female to seemingly erase reference to biological sex and that has also managed to categorize 79 percent of Americans as “anti-vaxxers”
Other remarks also reflected the exacerbation of people troubled by what they believe is Marxism infiltrating the formerly golden state.
A strike against the rule of law in CA & the USA, ushering in a Marxist, tyrannical authoritarian rule. ‘Illegal alien’ is a LEGAL term, NOT PERSONAL. CITIZENS have the rights in this country. Illegal aliens have limited rights.Note that “immigrants” can be both legal or illegal!

Dumbing down of America. These people are illegal aliens. This PC culture is destroying our country!
