Having established earlier in the week that President Joe Biden has never once visited the southern U.S. border throughout his long career in politics, Fox News’ Peter Doocy tried on Friday to obtain a definitive answer to the question of “why.”

During a briefing, he pithily asked White House press secretary Jen Psaki, “Why hasn’t President Biden ever visited the southern border?”

But instead of simply answering the question, “circle back” Psaki resorted to her rhetorical shtick of responding to a question with another question.

“What would you like him to do at the southern border? And what impact do you think that would have on the policies?” she asked.

“Why doesn’t he want to go?” Doocy promptly replied, deftly ignoring the question.

This time the press secretary responded with a word salad about how it wouldn’t be a “constructive” use of the president’s time to visit the border and about how former President Donald Trump is somehow to blame for the current crisis.

“I don’t think it’s an issue of wanting to go; I think it’s an issue of what’s most constructive to address what we see as a challenging situation at the border and a broken immigration system,” she said.

“And his view is [that] the most constructive role we can play is by helping to push immigration reform forward, helping reform the broken policies of the last several years, and listening to his team of advisors, who have been to the border multiple times, about what the path forward should look like,” she added.

Note what she said about “the broken policies” of the Trump administration. A recent poll conducted by Civiqs found that out of 1,271 registered voters, 50 percent disapproved of Biden reversing his predecessor’s “broken” border policies.

This opposition likely stems from the fact that, despite Psaki’s rhetoric, the former president’s border policies weren’t broken — they were effective.

Unimpressed by the press secretary’s rhetoric, Doocy quickly fired back by asking, “So why is this the one crisis then that he thinks he can manage better from here without having seen it than going to the southern border and seeing it?”

Psaki replied by claiming that Biden “is well aware of what the challenges are in our broken immigration system, something he watched closely over the last four years.”

In that case, it’s presumed he’d “watched closely” while in nap mode because his actions since taking office hint at him having learned nothing from his predecessor.

Immediately upon taking office, the president reversed all of Trump’s effective border policies, after which — surprise, surprise — another border crisis erupted.

Months later in August, the Supreme Court essentially revived one of those policies — namely the “Remain in Mexico” policy of forcing asylum seekers to literally remain in Mexico (versus being allowed in the U.S.) as their cases wind their way through America’s immigration courts.

Following the court’s decision, The New York Times ran a bombshell report indicating that administration officials were secretly ecstatic over the ruling.

“[A]mong some Biden officials, the Supreme Court’s order was quietly greeted with something other than dismay, current and former officials said: It brought some measure of relief,” the Times reported.

Why? Because they recognized that the policy worked and had wanted to revive it themselves but were afraid of the political backlash from the far-left.

“[S]ome Biden officials were already talking about reviving Mr. Trump’s policy in a limited way to deter migration … then the Supreme Court order came, providing the Biden administration with the political cover to adopt the policy in some form without provoking as much ire from Democrats who reviled Mr. Trump’s border policies,” according to the Times.

And so no, it doesn’t appear the president is or has ever been “aware of what the challenges are in our broken immigration system, something he watched closely over the last four years,” as had been claimed by Psaki.

During the same briefing Friday, the press secretary also tried falsely accusing congressional Republicans of having no “solutions” for resolving the border crisis.

“There are a lot of Republicans out there giving speeches about how outraged they are about the situation at the border, not many who are putting forward solutions or steps that we could take,” she said.

“So, we’re a little tired of the speeches. We’d like to partner on solutions and working together to address this problem that has not been partisan in the past,” Psaki added

Listen:

What she said was a flat-out lie. Congressional Republicans have been shouting at the rooftops for months, begging the Biden administration to simply “secure the border.”

Case in point:

But instead of listening, the administration has left the border wide open …
