‘The View’ derails live before Kamala’s big arrival, 2 hosts pulled for Covid despite being vaxxed ‘up the wazoo’

While one could argue that ABC’s “The View” is a train wreck on most days, on Friday’s show that proved to be an understatement.

With Vice President Kamala Harris expected on the show — considering she’s not busy visiting the out-of-control southern border with Mexico that she was tasked with resolving — and the air of excitement palpable, two of the regular co-hosts were suddenly pulled from the live set.

Turns out, excitement wasn’t the only thing in the air as co-hosts Ana Navarro and Sunny Hostin reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.

Co-host Joy Behar said they would explain later why her colleagues were being pulled and began to introduce the vice president, only to be stopped by a producer.

“This is going to be a major news story any minute now,” she would soon say. “What happened is Sonny and Ana both apparently tested positive for Covid. No matter how hard we try, these things happen. They probably have a breakthrough case and they’ll be okay, I’m sure. They’re both vaccinated up the wazoo.”

(Most people get jabbed in the arm.)

A White House official said that Vice President Harris did not interact with Hostin or Navarro before the show.

The show reportedly had the table cleaned and disinfected, and a production aide was quoted in the news to say Harris was to be interviewed remotely, “just to be safe.”

Interestingly, Joe Concha, a media analyst for The Hill, noted in a tweet that Harris was waiting backstage with Behar “now openly coughing into her hand on live television.”

Reporting in real-time, Concha noted that Harris would “join The View remotely from another part of the ABC building” and that after 40 minutes into the show, this had still not happened.

He then tweeted that with nine minutes remaining, the vice president appeared on camera “wearing a consumer earpiece instead of an IFB.”

“Behar just coughed for the second time on the show,” Concha said, before adding, “Harris now comparing border patrol agents on horseback to days of slavery.”

In reiterating that Behar “keeps coughing,” Concha declared: “Get Behar off the set.”

Of the many responses to the story, the following tweet proved to be an instant classic: “We are living in an episode of Veep and no one will convince me otherwise.”
