‘The Squad’ forces Pelosi to remove $1B intended to replenish Israel’s Iron Dome from spending bill

The antisemitic disposition of “the squad” of radial Democratic lawmakers in Congress is not new, but what is newsworthy is the growing influence these hard-left ideologues clearly have on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

On Tuesday, this cabal of socialists and extremists, including the first two Muslim women to serve in Congress, forced House Democratic leadership to cut $1 billion for Israel’s Iron Dome defense system from a short-term government funding bill, Fox News reported.

U.S. Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., led the way in blocking money that would have been used to replenish the defense system relied upon heavily earlier this year as thousands of rockets rained down from Gaza, threatening to vote against a continuing resolution to keep the federal government funded through early December and raise the $28 trillion debt ceiling, according to the network.

House Rules Chairman James McGovern, D-Mass., claimed the $1 billion in funding would be attached to the annual defense funding bill later this year, Fox News reported. However, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., said Tuesday night he would bring a standalone bill on funding the Iron Dome program to the House floor before the end of this week/

“I was for that. I’m still for it, we ought to do it,” Hoyer said.

The egregious move to block the funding even prompted pushback from some Democratic representatives, such as U. S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., who is Jewish.

“Iron Dome is a purely *defensive* system — it protects civilians when hundreds of rockets are shot at population centers. Whatever your views on the Israeli-Pal conflict, using a system that just saved hundreds, if not thousands, of lives as a political chit is problematic,” she tweeted.

The Jerusalem Post reported that President Biden “promised to replenish Israel’s Iron Dome batteries after the last round of fighting with Hamas in May, and again when he met with Prime Minister Naftali Bennett in the Oval Office last month.”

In yet another display of dishonesty from this president, Biden told the UN General Assembly on Monday: “The commitment of the United States to Israel’s security is without question and our support for an independent Jewish state is unequivocal.”

The remark coming shortly before House Democrats stripped the funding, the newspaper noted.

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee took to Twitter to state: “Extremists in Congress are playing politics with Israeli & Palestinian lives. Calling to remove funding for a lifesaving defensive system is an affront to our values, risks further conflict, and is counter to the commitment made by Biden & supported by Congressional leadership.”

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., responded in a tweet as well: “Democrats just pulled funding from the Iron Dome—the missile defense system that has saved countless lives in Israel from Hamas’ rocket attacks. While Dems capitulate to the antisemitic influence of their radical members, Republicans will always stand with Israel.”
