Questioned about his close ties to deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, billionaire Microsoft founder Bill Gates seemed at a loss for meaningful words, to the point that he insinuated that because Epstein is dead, the past doesn’t matter anymore.
In a PBS interview that aired Tuesday, Gates was first asked to explain why he chose to meet up with Epstein even after the billionaire pedophile was convicted of soliciting prostitution from minors.
“You had a number of meetings with Jeffrey Epstein, who — when you met him 10 years ago — he was convicted of soliciting prostitution from minors. What did you know about him when you were meeting with him, as you’ve said yourself, in the hopes of raising money?” interviewer Judy Woodruff asked.
The billionaire tech guru responded by claiming he needed the pedophile’s connections for his philanthropic efforts.

“You know, I had dinners with him. I regret doing that. He had relationships with people he said would give to global health, which is an interest I have. Not nearly enough philanthropy goes in that direction,” he said.
It’s not clear why he couldn’t have sought out other people who also had such “relationships.”
“Those meetings were a mistake. They didn’t result in what he purported, and I cut them off. That goes back a long time ago now. So there’s nothing new on that,” he added.
To her credit, Woodruff promptly responded by asking Gates why he continued meeting with the convicted pedophile if he didn’t even provide what he’d said he would.
“It was reported that you continued to meet with him over several years, and [there were] a number of meetings. What did you do when you found out about his background?” she asked.
Gates could be seen fidgeting uncomfortably with his hands as she spoke.
“I said I regretted having those dinners, and there’s nothing, absolutely nothing new on that,” he quickly replied.
That didn’t answer anything …
“Is there a lesson for you, for anyone else looking at this?” Woodruff pressed further.
Gates responded with an extremely bizarre answer.
“Well, he’s dead, so … you know, in general, you always have to be careful. And you know, I’m very proud of what we’ve done, very proud of the work of the foundation. That’s what I get up every day and focus on,” he said.
His convoluted answer was not satisfactory to a public that already suspects him of wrongdoing as it pertains to Epstein.
Even some of his tacit supporters seemed plussed.
Not Bill Gates’s finest television performance on a question he’s been asked multiple times before.

I sat with him at one of the dinners. Goddamn is he uncomfortable here.

With all his media experience and the PR people that surround him, couldn’t they have prepped him better on this question? He did himself no favors with that kind of answer.

Seems relieved that he’s dead!

Wait.. maybe I’m misunderstanding what Gates meant but it kinda sounded like his answer was to the effect of …. ‘Dead men tell no tales’.. ?

In fact, even his own ex-wife suspected him, according to a report The Wall Street Journal published in May about Gates’ then-upcoming divorce.
“One source of concern for Ms. Gates was her husband’s dealings with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, according to the people and a former employee of their charity, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Ms. Gates’s concerns about the relationship dated as far back as 2013, the former employee said,” the Journal reported.
In fairness to Gates, The New York Times noted in 2019 that, according to an unnamed source, “Mr. Epstein complained to an acquaintance at the end of 2014 that Mr. Gates had stopped talking to him.”
And so perhaps he did eventually heed his wife’s concerns, though not early enough to prevent his then-wife from seeking a divorce?

Not that this explains his longtime relationship with Epstein — not to mention his longtime “questionable behavior” at work.
“By the time Melinda French Gates decided to end her 27-year marriage … Bill Gates had also developed a reputation for questionable conduct in work-related settings,” the Times reported in a bombshell piece late last spring.
“On at least a few occasions, Mr. Gates pursued women who worked for him at Microsoft and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, according to people with direct knowledge of his overtures,” the report continued.
Though pursuing grown women while married isn’t equivalent to partaking in pedophilic activities, it does potentially hint at Gates’ taste for inappropriate sexual proclivities, which is appears is a trait he shares with Epstein …
