Greenwald blasts bad actors behind ‘pre-election censorship’ after Hunter Biden laptop confirmation

Investigative journalist Glenn Greenwald railed at big tech and Democrats in a lengthy Twitter thread on Tuesday following a Politico report verifying elements of bombshell revelations regarding President Joe Biden and son Hunter Biden reported a few weeks before the November election but were censored by various social media platforms.

Greenwald was responding to a Politico Playbook report on Tuesday that a new book by Ben Schreckinger titled “The Bidens: Inside the First Family’s Fifty-Year Rise to Power,” found “evidence that some of the purported Hunter Biden laptop material is genuine, including two emails at the center of last October’s controversy.”

“A person who had independent access to Hunter Biden’s emails confirmed he did receive a 2015 email from a Ukrainian businessman thanking him for the chance to meet Joe Biden,” Playbook continued. “The same goes for a 2017 email in which a proposed equity breakdown of a venture with Chinese energy executives includes the line, ’10 held by H for the big guy?’ (This person recalled seeing both emails, but was not in a position to compare the leaked emails word-for-word to the originals.)”

Emails that were also released by a “Swedish government agency” match those in the leaked cache, the report said, while adding that “two people who corresponded with Hunter Biden confirmed emails from the cache were genuine.”

Also, Politico noted that former Biden business partner Tony Bobulinski also noted in an interview with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson last year ahead of the election that the “10 Held by H” email was real and added that Hunter Biden’s business dealings all came with financial cut-outs for his father.

The initial bombshells were reported by the New York Post, which had received a copy of the laptop’s hard drive from Rudy Giuliani, who was then serving as President Donald Trump’s campaign lawyer. The Post’s reporting was purposely censored on social media platforms that claimed it was Russian disinformation, along with several Democrats and left-wing political commentators and hosts, though the Trump administration’s director of national intelligence at the time, John Ratcliffe, said there was no evidence to support the allegation.

The Post’s Twitter account was also locked for weeks.

In his thread, Greenwald praised the author, Schreckinger, but blasted Democrats and the big tech platforms for censoring the initial story.

“People complaining about pre-election censorship by Google in Russia cheered Big Tech’s censoring this reporting,” Greenwald wrote before praising the author.

“Kudos to him, as a young journalist, for reporting facts most in the corporate media don’t want to hear,” he said, adding: “Big Tech/Dem censorship of this story before the election was a grave assault.”

He added:

As a reminder, this is what happened:

* It was obvious from the start the Hunter docs were authentic.

* They concerned *Joe’s* activities, not Hunter’s.

* CIA lied, saying it was “Russian disinformation.”

* Big Tech & media united to *censor* the reporting to protect Biden.

Greenwald then lashed out at The Intercept, which he co-founded before the current editorial staff forced him out.

“One last reminder: @theintercept — founded in 2014, before the current editors arrived, to be *adversarial* to CIA/security state — used an ex-NYT reporter to mindlessly endorse the CIA lie that the Hunter docs were ‘Russian disinformation’ out of desperation to help Biden win,” he wrote.

“It’s so easy to recognize and denounce the censorship, repression and propaganda in distant countries we’re taught from childhood to hate (Russia). It’s [much] more difficult — and more important — to recognize it in our own. Pre-election censorship of this story was a disgrace.”
