There were several odd moments on Saturday involving President Joe Biden, as he marked the 20th anniversary of 9/11, but remarks he made while in Shanksville, Pa., suggested that his predecessor was living rent-free in his head — the argument that there may be plenty of room there not hard to find.
On that note, former Fox News host Monica Crowley put in writing thoughts far too many Americans seem to have, but more on that in a bit.
Former President Donald Trump slammed Biden for his disastrous handling of the Afghanistan evacuation, calling it the “greatest embarrassment in the history of our country.”
“There has never been anything like this. It looks like we fled, and it is all because we have an incompetent person as the leader of our country,” he told Fox News ahead of 9/11.
On Saturday, while talking to reporters Biden started rambling on about Trump.
(Video: C-SPAN)
“This idea that, you know, ‘What do you want to do with Biden: I want to box him’ … I should be so lucky,” the president said. “But it’s the kinds of things or, you know… the stuff coming out of Florida, the stuff that’s coming out of — you know, if Robert E. Lee had been in Afghanistan he would have won. Anyway, I’m telling you too much.”
Trump did say: “If only we had Robert E. Lee to command our troops in Afghanistan, that disaster would have ended in a complete and total victory many years ago.”
The politicians lost the war in Afghanistan, not the U.S. military. And think what you may of Robert E. Lee, but the Civil War general had a stellar reputation as a brilliant military tactician.
As for the boxing remark, Ol’ Joe left out a lot of context there.
Trump and his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., were guest commentators Saturday night for a pay-per-view match between former undisputed heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield and former UFC champion Vitor Belfort — it wasn’t much of a showdown, as 58-year-old Holyfield didn’t last long.
The former president was asked at a prior media event promoting the fight who’d be his desired boxing opponent.
“Well, if I had to pick somebody in the world, not only a professional boxer — because I’ll take a pass on the professional boxers, that could be a very dangerous subject,” he replied. “But if I had to box somebody, I think probably my easiest fight would be Joe Biden because I think he’d go down very, very quickly. Very, very quickly.”
“You know, he once said, ‘Oh, I’d like to take him behind the bar,’” Trump continued. “He’d be in big trouble if he ever did. No, I think Biden would go down within the first few seconds.”
(Biden said in 2016 that he would like to take Trump “behind the gym.”)
Crowley responded to video footage of Biden’s ramblings, tweeting: “Everyone sees it, everyone knows it … but no one is allowed to talk about it.”

Concerns about Biden’s apparent cognitive decline appear to be fresh on the minds of most everyone, outside the media cabal that pretty much elected him in the first place.
Investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson was willing to give Biden the benefit of the doubt, but it’s up to him to be coherent in sharing his thoughts instead of rambling from one disjointed thought to another without context.
Maybe the whole clip, or more of the clip shows he is making sense..? https://t.co/8ZAhWrcuXl

Here’s a quick sampling of some of the responses to the story from Twitter:
Incomprehensible statement; Biden simply cannot focus and the rambling is a sign of cognitive issues. Why hasn’t congress, in particular pushed the testing issue? https://t.co/xsPbsnuFVv

Shouldn’t we question everything this man says? Not trying to be mean, but he definitely is not coherent. https://t.co/OnztcAunlw

His wife the good doctor should step in and take control of him to save the last remaining shred of dignity. If she loved him she would do it. I would never stand idly by while my wife struggled like this.

The I’m telling you too much part is telling when you combine it with stories from inside the administration stating they mute the TV when he is taking questions they’re so nervous about what he might say
