Co-hosts of Fox News’ “The Five” railed at Joe Biden Thursday after the president addressed the nation earlier in the day and said he directed his administration to impose an unprecedented COVID-19 vaccine mandate on private businesses with 100 or more employees.
In his speech, Biden also said he will require all federal employees to be vaccinated as well as those who work for federal contractors or be subjected to weekly testing. Companies that don’t comply will be subjected to thousands of dollars in fines per employee, to be enforced by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), which falls under the Labor Department.
“Many of us are frustrated with the nearly 80 million Americans who are still not vaccinated, even though the vaccine is safe, effective, and free,” Biden said during his speech, before going on to blame Americans who have not gotten the jab for whatever reason.
“This is a pandemic of the unvaccinated. And it’s caused by the fact that despite America having an unprecedented and successful vaccination program, despite the fact that for almost five months free vaccines have been available in 80,000 different locations, we still have nearly 80 million Americans who have failed to get the shot,” he said, without noting that vaccinated Americans have also tested positive for, or come down with, the virus.

“And my message to unvaccinated Americans is this: What more is there to wait for? What more do you need to see? We’ve made vaccinations free, safe, and convenient,” he added. “We’ve been patient, but our patience is wearing thin. And your refusal has cost all of us.”
Following Biden’s speech, “The Five” co-host Jesse Watters called Biden an “angry man” and said he was taking out various policy failures on “the unvaccinated.”
“He’s an angry man, he’s a bitter man,” Watters began. “He’s humiliated by the Afghanistan situation. He’s upset with the economic recovery, where it should be but it’s not, so he’s taking the anger out on the unvaxxed. He’s targeting 80 million Americans who don’t trust him, don’t trust the media, for good reason.”
“Instead of uniting the country against the virus — and against China, ’cause that’s where it came from — he’s trying to divide the country against itself for political exploitation,” Watters continued. “He’s obviously poll-tested mandates — never said mandates, it’s ‘requirements’ now.”
Watters went on to question whether Biden would fire a quarter of the roughly 2.1 million federal employees who may refuse to get the vaccine while also predicting that, should the mandate hold up in court, companies with 100 employees will reduce staff to get below that level, adding to unemployment at a time when there is a labor shortage.
“If he gets away with this power grab, he’s gonna be bloodthirsty. Imagine what he thinks he’ll get away with next,” Watters concluded.
Co-host Greg Gutfeld stayed on the theme that Biden was intentionally dividing the country by “basically” referring to unvaccinated Americans “as the new terrorists.”
“[Biden] showed more anger towards them than the orderly and kind Taliban, right?” Gutfeld said. “Basically, he was blowing his own horn because he blew it in Afghanistan. This was his way to show that maybe he is competent so he had to gin up the fear.”
Gutfeld went on to remind viewers that when President Donald Trump was in office, Biden is “the guy who said ‘don’t trust the vaccines.'”
“Now he’s saying that people who say that are publicly dangerous…or endangering public health,” Gutfeld added.
Jeanine Pirro, another co-host who is also a former state judge, went on to add that that she’s not sure opponents of the mandate will have a case if they go to court because Biden’s rule is being issued under the guise of a “pandemic.”
But, she went on to list several of Biden’s quotes which she said are aimed at “ginning up anger in our society” against unvaccinated Americans.
“It’s all this Marxism thing,” she said, before noting that she herself has had a two-dose vaccine and has had the virus itself, “so my antibodies are through the roof.”
“How am I at risk from someone who doesn’t get the vaccine?”
Co-host Geraldo Rivera interjected by saying that Pirro’s “grandchildren are at risk” of getting the disease before adding that he disagreed with Watters and Gutfeld and pointing out that there have been more Americans who have died from COVID-19 than died in the “American Civil War.”
“This was a president who is doing something that he feels necessary to curb an emergency that has already, ladies and gentlemen, taken more lives than the American Civil War. I mean, let’s put it into context,” said Rivera.
