Dog the Bounty Hunter in hot water for abusing 'N-word pass'

Dog the Bounty Hunter has raised a commotion recently over his use of the N-word, but it’s ok, he was given a “pass” by his prison “brothers.”

Duane Chapman, 68, better known as “Dog the Bounty Hunter,” has been in hot water for using racially charged language before, but has dismissed his daughter Bonnie Chapman’s claims that he is a racist (among other things) by saying he earned a “pass” to use it from the “black tribe” in prison, “kind of like Eminem,” in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Chapman referred back to his time in prison, where he spent 18 months in Texas State Penitentiary in Huntsville, Texas, for first-degree murder:

“I had just gotten out of prison in 1979 after spending time, 18 months in Texas, and it was probably three-fourths from the black tribe. So that was a word that we used back and forth, as maybe a compliment.”

Apparently such things do not extend indefinitely, however. The recent controversy has led Chapman to defend himself by saying “My pass expired for using it, but no one told me that,” and that “[saying a] racist name doesn’t make you a racist.”

Facing criticism from his daughter Bonnie, alleging that Chapman hates blacks and gays and is an adulterer, Chapman was dismissive, saying that his daughter had “been fed what to say.” He went on to state that “I have three men on my staff that are gay, my daughter is gay, baby Lyssa. I don’t understand why anybody would ever say that.” Chapman went on to say that he would “lay down his life for a gay man or a black man.”

Bonnie, 22, is adamant however, and says that she wasn’t invited to her father’s wedding to Francie Frane because of her association with Black Lives Matter, and decried the treatment she alleges Chapman gave her mother, Beth Chapman:

“He would cheat on my mom all the time, and I hated him every time he did it, but I forgave him for that because I wanted a relationship with my dad. I thought I had only one parent left. I was left with the racist and homophobic parent. My mother was a shining light in the void. I can no longer watch someone diminish her light with his hatred.”

Chapman has been in trouble for his language before. In 2007, his show on A&E was suspended after a phone call was leaked in which he used the N-word over 6 times when talking about his son Tucker Chapman’s black girlfriend.

Reactions were mostly negative, while some were bemused and unsurprised:

Regardless of whether Dog the Bounty Hunter’s pass has expired or not, if he ever had such a thing, one thing is certain: drama seems to chase him the way he chases bail jumpers.
