Much like the Trump administration, the Biden administration boasts its own share of disgruntled “anonymous” leakers — and these leakers are reportedly “appalled” and “horrified” at how poorly the president handled the evacuations out of Afghanistan.
“I am absolutely appalled and literally horrified we left Americans there. It was a hostage rescue of thousands of Americans in the guise of a NEO [noncombatant evacuation operations], and we have failed that no-fail mission,” one “anonymous” administration official told Politico this week.
Another official “said that the mission isn’t accomplished if they left Americans behind,” as reported by Politico.
This sentiment is shared by a vast majority of the public.
A Pew Research Center survey conducted right before the withdrawal/pullout came to an abrupt end on Monday found that a 42 percent plurality of Americans believed President Joe Biden had “done a poor job” in Afghanistan.
Only 26 percent of Americas — the president’s most hardcore groupies, no doubt — thought he’d performed excellently or well.
A Rasmussen Reports poll published Wednesday — two days after the withdrawal concluded with tens of thousands of Afghan allies and hundreds of U.S. citizens reportedly still trapped in Afghanistan — meanwhile found that a 52 percent majority of Americans currently believe Biden should resign.
This belief is shared by former President Donald Trump.

These numbers are likely to only grow worse for the president and his administration as more bombshell reports emerge about the crisis in Afghanistan.
One particularly devastating report published Wednesday by NBC News revealed that, of the estimated 120,000+ people evacuated from Afghanistan, only a “small fraction” of them were actually America’s Afghan allies. The rest were essentially random strangers.
“[I]nitial figures suggest that only about 8,500 of those who left Afghanistan in recent months were Afghans, according to numbers released by the Biden administration and estimates from advocates,” the outlet reported.
“That is a small percentage of the tens of thousands of Afghans who worked for the U.S. government or U.S. organizations and applied for special U.S. visas, and an even smaller percentage of the Afghans eligible to apply,” the outlet added.
Even some Afghan allies who’d worked directly for the U.S. government as journalists were abandoned, according to columnist Josh Rogin of The Washington Post. This despite frequent warnings that the journalists were in danger.
“The administration was warned early and often about the 600 or so employees, contractors and family members who worked for U.S.-sponsored news organizations under the umbrella of the U.S. Agency for Global Media, a federal agency funded by Congress,” Rogin reported.
“They include journalists working for the Voice of America (VOA) and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) who have worked in Afghanistan for years — at great personal risk. The Taliban has killed four RFE/RL journalists since 2016 through suicide bomb attacks, and the company’s journalists routinely receive death threats from the extremists,” he added.

The State Department reportedly promised to take care of them but wound up reneging on that promise — a move so callous that even Democrats are calling it out.
“It is disheartening that so many professional journalists employed by American-funded news organizations have now been left behind, with their families,” Maryland Sen. Ben Cardin, a Democrat, said to Rogin.
“These Afghan allies are among the people most endangered at the present moment for the good work they have done over two decades. Urgent attention must now turn to finding the best way to get them to safety,” he added.
The U.S. military veterans who served alongside many of these allies — allies who, in some cases, are now likely dead — haven’t taken the president’s fumble well.
Veterans placed over 35,000 calls to the Department of Veterans Affairs’ suicide hotline between Aug. 13th and Aug. 29th, according to VA data reviewed by the Washington Examiner.
“Stop Soldier Suicide,” a nonprofit group focused on “leading the fight against veteran suicide,” has also seen a rise in requests.
It’s “projecting a 15-20% increase in requests in August, as a result of the crisis in Afghanistan,” the nonprofit’s chief growth officer, Tina Starkey, told The Daily Beast.
“Over the previous two weekends—times when Stop Soldier Suicide typically sees the most help requests—requests were up by 90 percent and 60 percent, respectively, compared to historical averages,” the outlet reported.
“Craig Gridelli, one of the co-founders of Stop Soldier Suicide, told The Daily Beast he suspects there will be some time before the data on call-ins reflects the true mental health toll of the moment,” it added.
Likewise, it may take some time before the truth about the president’s approval rating — as in how low it’s really dropped — becomes clear. At the rate the president is going with his angry outbursts, his denial of responsibility, and his incompetence, chances are his approval rating is going to sink like the Titanic.
