During his opening monologue on Friday, Fox News’ Tucker Carlson took aim at the Biden administration for using the chaotic, deadly withdrawal in Afghanistan as cover to import more than 100,000 Afghan refugees in what he claimed was part of a larger ongoing Democrat-led scheme to replace American voters.
And while Carlson believes that is the party’s overarching objective as also evidenced by the lack of enforcing the country’s laws against illegal immigration, the more immediate threat is that he believes many, if not most, of the refugees now streaming into the U.S. from Afghanistan have not been properly vetted.
To begin, Carlson noted the decision the administration made to abandon the sprawling Bagram Air Base, which served as the nerve center for U.S. and NATO operations during the decades-long conflict, in the middle of the night in July, without first informing the Afghan National Army commander stationed there.
The base, he said, was also home to a massive prison that held thousands of inmates, many of whom were Taliban fighters, adding that no sooner than American forces left, Afghan forces followed, and the base was immediately looted and those prisoners released.
“That turns out to be a massive miscalculation, that’s now clear. The decision to abandon Bagram Airfield was, in fact, idiotic. It led directly to the killing of 13 American servicemen yesterday,” Carlson said.
“With Bagram abandoned, the evacuation of Afghanistan is being staged from a commercial airport in the capital. Given its location, Kabul’s airport is almost impossible to defend. Yet despite the fact that it really can’t be defended, it remains the only way for American citizens to get out of the country,” he added.
The host went on to quote Bill Roggio, editor of the Long War Journal, who wrote that the Pentagon’s top generals simply acceded to Biden’s order, which they likely understood was a major mistake, without challenging him or resigning in protest.
Roggio wrote it “is the perfect example of the generals just saluting, and saying ‘yes, sir’ and ‘can do’ and not standing up and saying, ‘This is madness, and I can’t execute this because I’m putting the lives of Americans at risk, and you need to find someone else to do this.’”
“Tragically no one in authority was brave enough to say that. Instead, at every turn, they made unwise decisions that seemed designed to make the country they serve weaker—to humiliate the United States,” Carlson said.
He went on to point out some of the same people are in charge of the airlift evacuating the tens of thousands of Afghanis from the country, along with a much smaller percentage of Americans, though there is no good way to vet many of them
“Who, for example, are all these Afghans, many of whom are on their way here? The truth is, despite what they’re telling you, we have no real idea who they are. We just don’t know. We just learned, for example, that at least 100 of the refugees the American military has flown out of Kabul — people we’ve been told repeatedly are heroes by definition — are in fact on terror watch lists,” he said, including one who recently “worked for ISIS.”
The host then played a clip of an Afghan interpreter who said he was aware of many evacuees who claimed they worked for or with the U.S. but in fact had never done so.
He then brought up accounts of U.S. airline pilots and flight attendants who are involved in the airlift and were told they would be ferrying American citizens, which they happily volunteered to do, only to discover when they got into Qatar they were only flying out Afghanis.
“That may shock you but trust us—it’s normal in Washington. The Democratic Party’s actively demanding it, they view every refugee as a potential new voter. You’ll remember that Sandy Cortez was very worried about all those ‘unvetted’ Trump voters wandering through what they thought was their Capitol on January 6,” Carlson said, referencing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).
“Sandy Cortez thought she might be raped, despite the fact she wasn’t even there at the time. But, strangely, Cortez, so sensitive about her own safety, is not in the least concerned about sending huge and still unknown numbers of refugees into your neighborhood. She’s seen, we’ve all seen, what Afghan migration has done to Europe over the past six years, and apparently, she approves of it—she wants more,” he added, playing a clip of her demanding the Biden administration accept no less than 200,000 Afghanis.
“So the macro question is why do silly children like that have any power whatsoever in this country? Why should some girl from BU who knows nothing, has never done anything in her whole life, be in charge of the way your country looks going forward for the next hundred years? Who knows?” Carlson said.
“Listen carefully to what she’s saying: no fewer than 200 thousand refugees! Why? Because we’re evil and we deserve it.”
Carlson then reminded viewers why the U.S. invaded Afghanistan nearly 20 years ago — in response to the 9/11 attacks, which were planned and launched from the country by the late Osama bin Laden, reportedly with Taliban assistance and permission.
“There was a reason we went there in the first place, even if the occupation—thanks to people like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez—turned out to be a total disaster. So, we don’t owe the country anything. They were the staging ground for 9/11,” said Carlson.
“She was a child at the time, doesn’t remember that.”
As the host prepared to close out his monologue, he played a clip of Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) complaining to CNN host Brianna Keilar about lawmakers and others who were opposed to a mass influx of unvetted Afghani nationals. Among other things, the Illinois Republican accused people of fearmongering over the issue because of an alleged “darkness” in their hearts and an eye toward getting reelected.
“Wait a second, son. We can debate how many Afghan refugees we admit, but making this a matter of racism—Pashtuns are whiter than you, they have beards. But there is nothing racist about having concerns about Afghans or anyone else moving here. It has nothing to do with race. Knock it off,” Carlson chastised.
But he nevertheless focused on Kinzinger’s attitude about mass migration in general.
“Foreigners are more impressive than you are. They’re more entrepreneurial—he learned that at a Koch seminar. If you don’t agree with that, said Adam Kinzinger, if you thought the point of America was to serve Americans you are ‘evil’—that’s his position, you’re evil,” Carlson said.
“Since July, the United States has evacuated more than 100,000 people from Afghanistan. All heroes, all Americans? No,” Carlson said.
“As of tonight, just about 5,000 of that total are American citizens. That’s five percent. Oh, but the other 95 percent are heroes, right—all translators? That’s what CNN is telling you, but no,” he added.
“Allies refuge. That sounds like something all of us can get behind—offering refuge to our allies. Then you realize who these allies might be – the Pentagon now considers the Taliban an ally,” said the host, wrapping up. “We’ve given them lists of Americans who bare still in Afghanistan, as well as other classified intelligence. We’re also giving them free plane rides to our country.”
