After swanky maskless party, GOP Rep dubs Speaker ‘Gestapelosi’ over ‘unbelievable’ House mask mandate

A Republican House member is clapping back at Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her hypocritical requirement that all members wear masks though video surfaced of her attending a swanky event near her home in California over the weekend where she and nearly all guests were dining maskless and in close quarters.

“Pelosi has decreed–she’s like the Gestapo, I call her a ‘Gestapelosi,’ m-m-k? Gestapelosi has decreed that members must wear masks or get fined. Then, staff members can be arrested and jailed. She is the Gestapelosi. It’s unbelievable that she’s doing this kind of stuff,” Rep. Randy Weber (R-Texas), a member of the House Freedom Caucus, said during a presser Monday afternoon.

During his Monday evening program, Fox News’ primetime king Tucker Carlson also called out Pelosi over her insistence that members of the House be masked while in the chamber ostensibly due to the lingering COVID-19 pandemic, though she, in her personal life, seems less than concerned about the disease.

To begin his opening monologue, Carlson noted that as the Spanish Flu swept across America in 1918, local and state health officials in many parts of the country implemented mask mandates.

“Ever get the feeling we’ve been here before? Well, we have,” Carlson began. “At the height of the worst pandemic in history — that would be the Spanish Flu … — cities across America did something that the rest of us would find familiar today: They issued mandatory mask mandates, and they punished anyone who didn’t comply.”

He noted that San Francisco, where Pelosi lives and which she represents in Congress, was particularly authoritarian when it came to its mask mandate.  In fact, he said, based on historical accounts, a local health official in the city actually shot a man in public who had refused to don a mask.

While some Americans were against the mandates, most appeared to go along with them, Carlson said, “because they trusted their leaders” and wanted to do the right thing. But, he said, “then a single picture changed everything.”

Carlson explained that a photographer attending a boxing match in San Fran “snapped a shot of several high-ranking city officials” including the mayor, a member of Congress, and a “senior health administrator,” among others seated at the event sans masks. Not long afterward, the host noted, “mask mandates around the country ended” after most Americans decided they would endure “inconvenience but not hypocrisy.”

“The photograph went national. Americans were shocked to discover that the people making and enforcing the rules had no intention of following those rules,” Carlson said.

He went on to play a clip of Pelosi attending her event — a $30,000-per-ticket Democratic fundraiser in Napa Valley — over the weekend, maskless, as were the vast majority of guests, though staffers working as servers were required to wear masks.

“Once again, officials in California have been caught in camera exposing their own contempt for their own public health measures,” he added. “None of them are wearing masks. They’re breathing all the fresh air they like as if it’s 2019 again. The only people there who are wearing masks are their servants — the faceless brown serfs scurrying back and forth to bring them things.

“There’s nothing worse than having the help breathe on you,” Carlson added sardonically. “But that’s not a problem for Nancy Pelosi, as you can see.”

“It’s repulsive, but revealing,” Carlson said, going on to note that while Pelosi is 81 years old and well within the age group that is reportedly most at risk for catching and dying from COVID-19, her lack of a mask makes it seem she’s not concerned about it.

“It’s pretty clear at this point that Nancy Pelosi, our chief COVID enforcer, doesn’t believe a word she says,” Carlson opined.

Weber and other Republicans have routinely railed at Pelosi over her mask mandates, with several of them, including Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, having filed suit against her over the mandate late last month.
