ABC News edited out ‘un-presidential’ parts of awful Biden interview, Tucker reads the transcript of them

Fox News host Tucker Carlson questioned whether ABC News edited out portions of their interview this week with President Joe Biden that may have made him appear less presidential, before addressing what he called the “real threat” we face, which is “weakness at the center of the U.S. government.”

Biden sat with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos on Wednesday and proceeded to recklessly mix up facts and blame others, while completely denying the reality on the ground in Afghanistan.

Speaking on our humiliating exit from Afghanistan due to the president’s disastrous evacuation strategy, Carlson suggested Biden knew the outcome would be “destructive to America’s authority in the world,” that he and his advisors “priced it in,” before turning his attention to ABC News.

“They knew it was going to happen, but they did it anyway. What does that say about them?” he asked. “What does it tell you that they left thousands of American citizens behind when they fled and then seemed — and seem — markedly unconcerned about what might happen to have those American citizens in Afghanistan under the Taliban.”

Carlson explained that the U.S. government “exists to serve its own citizens, period.”

“The U.S. government has no other purpose,” the Fox News host added. “The moment the U.S. government stopped serving U.S. citizens is the moment the U.S. government becomes illegitimate. That is true. That has always been true, since the day the country was founded.”

He then pointed to a “telling exchange” at the end of the interview with ABC.

“That exchange was never broadcast on camera,” Carlson explained. “Now, television networks edit interviews very often for time, but ABC News appears to have chosen to edit out portions that made Joe Biden look, how to put it, not presidential, incoherent, confused,” Carlson said. “We think it is worth knowing what happened, especially in a moment of national crisis, so we are going to read from the transcript that we were provided.”

The transcript describes a moment when Stephanopoulos suggested some Afghan war veterans agreed with the big, strategic picture of getting out of Afghanistan, quoting an Army vet who did seven tours and was wounded twice, Javier McCabe, who said, “We have to cut our losses in Afghanistan, I just wish we could have left with honor.”

Biden responded, according to the transcript, by referencing his late son, Beau Biden, confusing his son’s service in the Army —  he was a JAG officer in the Delaware Army National Guard — with the Navy, before further confusing Beau’s deployment to Iraq for one year with Afghanistan.

He then appears to lose his train of thought altogether, according to the transcripts.

“Now, we are waiting for that tape, but that’s the transcript,” Carlson said, adding that “Joe Biden can’t seem to remember those details. We’re not attacking him, we’re not telling you this from glee, we are telling you because it is true, this is the man leading our country.”

“The scary thing about what’s happening in Afghanistan is not that it’s collapsing,” he concluded. “Afghanistan has always been in various stages of collapse, by our standards for thousands of years. The scary thing about Afghanistan is that it reveals American weakness, and weakness begets aggression. Power vacuums are always filled. The problem with what we just read to you is that it reveals weakness at the very center of the U.S. government. Weakness that possibly can’t be fixed. That’s the real problem. Over time, it’s the real threat.”
