Joe Rogan rips Fauci for repeatedly being ‘100 percent wrong,’ getting away with a string of excuses

Top podcaster Joe Rogan tore into the credibility of the country’s lead immunologist, Dr. Anthony Fauci, accusing him of being “100 percent wrong” about the COVID-19 pandemic and said that’s why he doesn’t trust the federal government’s vaccine guidance.

On Tuesday, Rogan and his guest, artificial intelligence researcher Lex Fridman, opined that Fauci has also lost the trust of much of the American public over his lack of transparency regarding his funding of “gain of function” research in China through the National Institutes of Allergies and Infectious Diseases, which Fauci has run since the early 1980s.

The research, which reportedly took place at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, is controversial in that it involves making alterations of viruses and pathogens to make them more virulent so that researchers can study how they spread. The practice is widely criticized because it has the potential to create pandemics as the altered virus escapes or is released and turn deadly.

Rogan said that the mainstream media has pretty much ignored “all the things [Fauci has] done to lead people to distrust him,” in particular, his awarding of NIH grant money to EcoHealth Alliance, which in turn funded GOF research at Wuhan, according to reports.

Some have suggested that COVID-19 was developed at the Wuhan lab and escaped.

In addition, Fridman blamed Fauci and “shady, greedy a**holes” for ramping up public mistrust of science in general while Rogan ripped the NIAID director for his ever-changing guidance regarding the virus. The podcast host also brushed off Fauci’s claims that scientists have to constantly react to viruses as they evolve.

In particular, Rogan focused on Fauci’s changing mask guidance after saying very early in the pandemic that wearing them would not be an effective deterrent against the virus, as well as saying that asymptomatic people could not transmit COVID-19.

Fauci would later explain that his early mask guidance was due to the fact that supplies were low in the U.S. and he didn’t want a run on them because that would deprive emergency and medical personnel of protection.

“There’s also a problem with people like him where they make these statements that you’re led to believe they have an understanding of the situation…but then it turns out they’re 100 percent wrong,” said Rogan. “But then they come up with a new statement and you’re supposed to believe that.

“When they don’t know, they never say ‘We don’t know,'” Rogan continued. “They don’t say ‘this is very confusing and we’re trying to figure it out as we go along.'”

Rogan and Fridman said another issue is one of communication — that Fauci and other scientists “talk down” to average Americans, which again leads to a trust issue.

Initially, Fauci dismissed the so-called “lab leak theory” but earlier this summer he changed his mind and suggested that it was certainly possible COVID-19 was lab-developed and escaped.

In testimony before a House House Appropriations subcommittee in May, Fauci said that his agency had engaged in “modest” collaboration with Chinese scientists at the Wuhan lab.

“It would have been almost a dereliction of our duty if we didn’t study this, and the only way you can study these things is you’ve got to go where the action is,” Fauci said in response to inquiries about a $600,000 grant from NIAID that went to EcoHealth.

After earlier insisting that no U.S. tax money went to fund GOF research, Fauci was asked if it is possible a grant recipient would have lied on an application to get the funding.

“I cannot guarantee that a grantee has not lied to us, because you never know,” Fauci said.
