Country music superstar Carrie Underwood was trending all throughout the day on Tuesday for little more than “liking” a tweet.
You see, in the eyes of the online rage mob, the seven-time Grammy-winning artist liked the wrong tweet — somehow, we suspect that Underwood has more backbone than fellow singer Taylor Swift, who folded to the left-wing mob like a cheap lawn chair.
Underwood, a mother of two young boys, apparently liked a tweet from conservative political commentator Matt Walsh showcasing a recent speech to a Nashville school board opposing mask mandates for children.
Walsh’s speech took place last week, and he challenged the school board members to produce the scientific evidence to support a universal mask mandate for all students.
“You on the school board have decided that our kids should go to school all day, every day, wearing muzzles like rabid dogs,” he said.

Underwood has made a concerted effort to steer away from politics, saying in 2019 during an interview with The Guardian that she feels people try to “pin” her down on her political beliefs.
“I try to stay far out of politics if possible, at least in public, because nobody wins,” she said at the time. “It’s crazy. Everybody tries to sum everything up and put a bow on it, like it’s black and white. And it’s not like that.”
Here are just a few examples of the unhinged online reaction, as people interpreted a whole lot from a “like,” even accusing Underwood of being an “anti-vaxxer.” Though, we suspect her Christian faith may be as much of a target here for some:

Walsh was only too happy to play along to all the fuss over his speech, tweeting: “Carrie Underwood liked my video and now the mob is coming for her. She should know better than to like something that they don’t like. This is an unforgivable sin.”
In another tweet that he appeared to have deleted, Walsh wondered aloud how long it may take for the recording artist to renounce him, suggesting 12 hours, though he did acknowledge that he “could be wrong though.”
He then tweeted this offering, tongue-in-cheek:
Like anyone else, I am upset and disturbed that Carrie Underwood liked one of my tweets. She should know better than to indirectly endorse the opinions of an extremist and scoundrel such as myself. Her lack of judgment is appalling. I demand that she renounce me and apologize.

So far, Underwood is proving to be smarter than the rest of us by remaining silent.
Which is not to say she didn’t have plenty of supporters. Here’s a sampling of some of the responses to the story from Twitter:
If Carrie Underwood declines to bow to the bullying leftist mob – who already hate her and won’t ‘forgive’ her even if she begs – she will gain far more fans than the millions she already has. Given today’s political climate, I don’t expect it, but it would be refreshing to see.

Carrie Underwood liked a video about kids not being forced to wear masks – a position totally supported by data – and she’s being called an anti-vaxxer. In case you thought your “nuanced” takes would save you from the leftist cancel mob… they won’t

Carrie Underwood liked @MattWalshBlog post feat. his speech to Nashville school board opposing mask mandates for kids.
Leftist mob is now swarming her, claiming she’s “anti-vax” tho Walsh never mentioned vaccines. Because that’s easiest way to smear common sense these days. https://t.co/qQcuFFUwGO

Carrie Underwood liked a tweet condemning mask mandates on children.
Now they’re trying to cancel her. I 100% stand with Carrie Underwood.
The folks with common sense are done!

To everyone having a meltdown about Carrie Underwood *gasp* liking a tweet from a conservative commentator, just wait until you find out how many of your beloved A-list celebrities are deeply conservative.

I’m going to say something that is going to be hard for some of you to hear.
Yes Carrie Underwood is absolutely conservative.
So are a lot of stars you love.
Get over it.
