Gavin Newsom mocked for picking up trash as latest poll numbers show big trouble in key demographics

Things aren’t looking good for California Governor Gavin Newsom who has become increasingly worried that he will be ousted in next month’s special recall election as the polls have taken a dramatic turn for the worse.

Newsom, whose response to COVID has been one of the worst in the nation despite severe restrictions that have hammered businesses and unfairly punished residents, may not have any more political rabbits to pull out of his hat as his approval ratings with two key demographics are currently in freefall.

According to a recently conducted poll by Survey USA and the San Diego Tribune; “51% of likely California voters would vote to remove Newsom from office, compared to 40% who would support him.” It is a major shift from only a few months ago when it appeared that he would survive the recall with only 36 percent supporting his removal.

Worse for Newsom is that the same poll shows him as being in big trouble with Latinos and vaccinated Californians, both groups now support kicking him to the curb with the clock rapidly ticking down to judgment day; those numbers blow a smoking hole in the false narrative that his primary opposition was coming from right-wing Republicans and believers in the Q-Anon conspiracy theory.

In a clear sign of how the tide has seriously turned against the former San Francisco mayor, Newsom has now embarked on a last-ditch public relations campaign to salvage his political career by hitting the streets to pick up the trash.

On Monday, the masked governor showed up underneath a freeway overpass in Berkeley where he joined workers in clearing garbage and debris that had piled up with many parts of the Golden State coming to resemble conditions customary to third world countries.

The footage conjured up some mockery about Newsom’s poll numbers.

“Gavin Newsom is checking out the results of his failed policies,” Tom Cotton tweeted in response to the video.

“Somebody showed this guy the latest polling,” the Washington Examiner’s Tiana Love quipped.

The one thing that could have saved Newsom from the wrath of voters was the lack of any viable opponent with the most prominent being former Olympic gold medal winner and reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner but then conservative businessman and radio host Larry Elder entered the race in what could be a game-changer that has the potential to alter the downward trajectory of California, a state that has been destroyed by one-party Democrat rule.

Elder expressed his delight at the latest polling on Twitter.

Like embattled New York governor Andrew Cuomo, Newsom was once the golden boy of the national media for his “leadership” during an unprecedented national health crisis but like so many other Democrats, he refused to follow his own rules.

The political tides shifted against Newsom last November when he was busted violating indoor dining restrictions after pictures of him partying at an expensive Napa Valley eatery ignited a public backlash that provided fuel for the recall effort.

Newsom’s escapades at the French Laundry came at a time when he had imposed harsh restrictive measures against ordinary Californians who sought to gather for the traditional Thanksgiving holiday dinner including singing, chanting, and shouting being “strongly discouraged” but as has been the practice with so many Democrats, the rules are for thee and not for me.

A successful recall would be devastating for Governor Newsom who holds aspirations for high office on a national level and if he is thrown out of office it could be a beacon of hope that there is accountability for Democrats who have used COVID to accumulate vast amounts of power that would normally be unthinkable in a democracy.
