Like the New York City Democrats who voted for former cop Eric Adams in the city’s Democrat mayoral primary this summer, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva, also a Democrat, has had enough with the “woke” nonsense.
So much so, in fact, that on Friday he retweeted a story from the Washington Examiner, a conservative outlet generally not read by Democrats. But he didn’t retweet it to talk trash; he retweeted it because he genuinely appreciated the reporting.
“The homeless crisis is a problem we can solve, if our elected leaders check their woke privilege at the door!” his tweet read.

The Examiner story he linked to documented the ongoing feud between him and the local and state Democrats, including Gov. Gavin Newsom, who refuse to do anything about the state’s homelessness problem.
The homeless in California have been allowed to wreak havoc throughout the state. Besides setting up their camps wherever they please, the homeless have also been allowed to commit assaults, robberies and arson with impunity.
Worse, when Villanueva tried to put a halt to such behavior — or at least in the Los Angeles County area — officials pounced on him.
“Villanueva has taken it upon himself to combat the homeless problem as he sees the influx get worse. Recently, his deputies began patrolling Venice Beach in an effort to curtail assaults, robberies, and fires that plague the area. His efforts were not welcome by city officials,” according to the Examiner.
Fed-up with the homeless problem, in late June the sheriff submitted a letter to the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors begging them to declare a state of emergency and “tap into all available state/federal funding and resources to help the residents” of the county.
“With violent crime on the rise, a yearly 100 percent increase in homicides, illegal marijuana cultivation and distribution by organized crime rings, and the homeless population spiraling out of control, our residents are being held hostage in their local communities. … I have been inundated with calls for action by citizens from all over the County,” he wrote.

He also tried sending a letter to Newsom, but it was completely ignored.
The Los Angeles Board of Supervisors meanwhile did eventually reply, but not directly. Instead they had the city counsel submit a letter to him haranguing him for complaining about the conditions being faced by their constituents.
“The letter basically said ‘mind your own business because there is no emergency here.’ It said the county has robust outreach programs. But there is nothing you can describe as robust because I’ve seen the problem grow in the past 10 years,” he explained to the Examiner.
Unsatisfied with the city’s, he continued sending letters to the board, but to no avail — and for an obvious reason. Members of the board appear to all be “woke” left-wing cultists. Their tweets seem to prove it.
Observe, and take note of all the left-wing buzz words like “Latinx” and “equity”:

All five women constitute the county’s board.

What’s notable is that the response to Villanueva has been almost unanimously positive, which is unusual. Attacks on the “woke” usually lead to ratios on Twitter, which is itself a hotbed of “woke” zealotry.
Yet in this case, the opposite happened, and that may be a good sign not only for him, but for conservatives as well. It signals that even left-wing members of the public are waking up to the problems caused by Democrat policymaking.

Politicians don’t want to solve the issue, they want an emergency because you get more power during an emergency
