Newsmax’s Greg Kelly takes on lonely role of defending Cuomo and actually makes a good case

Newsmax TV host Greg Kelly took on the lonely endeavor of defending New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the face of an investigation finding the Democrat sexually harassed eleven women from 2013 to 2020… and actually made a good case for his skepticism.

New York Attorney General Letitia James announced Tuesday that an investigation she commissioned in March showed that Cuomo had engaged in “unwanted groping, kissing, hugging and making inappropriate comments.” James, a Democrat, did not make a criminal referral, saying she would leave it up to local prosecutors to pursue charges.

“Mob mentality has formed yet again around Andrew Cuomo this time,” Kelly said on Tuesday’s show. “A sexual predator who must be, who must be driven from office. He must resign, he’ll be impeached. I’m hearing that from [President] Joe Biden, from everybody.”

“Here’s the thing,” he added. “I’m not buying it. Now there’s a lot of reasons not to like this guy okay, and I’m not a fan anymore, but he’s no sexual predator.”

For what it’s worth, a defiant Cuomo responded by insisting that he “never touched anyone inappropriately or made inappropriate sexual advances,” saying he will not be “distracted” from doing his job.

Kelly noted that many of the allegations made against Cuomo could be made about a lot of people, before pointing to the elephant in the room: President Joe Biden.

“Isn’t it wild that this guy is suddenly a monster, yet we’ve all seen Joe Biden grab and smell and grope people for years and the left elevated him to the presidency?” he said.

After playing a clip of James announcing the findings, Kelly said he has read the report and was skeptical, before showing more of the press conference where James declared the alleged victims “were in a hostile and toxic work environment, and that we should believe women. And that what we have an obligation and duty to do is to protect women in their workplace.”

“Now, I approach the whole thing skeptically because of her. You can tell right now I think she’s just overdoing it,” he explained. “This is the woman who said she would get [Donald] Trump when she was campaigning to be attorney. She didn’t need to see any evidence. She didn’t need to see any complaints. She just told everybody she was going to get him.”

“So I’ve been through the report, it’s a couple hundred pages long, but the meat of it, I’m sorry, I don’t think it’s there,” Kelly said. “I don’t and she made it clear today. This is not a criminal matter, this is a political matter.”

The Newsmax TV host detailed a couple of the complaints and ran a clip of Cuomo disputing the allegations and saying  he welcomes “the opportunity for a full and fair review before a judge and a jury.”

“I believe him. I do,” Kelly said. “It would be very easy for me to jump on the bandwagon right now and say, ‘Bad guy. Oh, he had it coming to him.’ He was anti-Kavanaugh, by the way, another man who was treated horrifically. I’m not going to do it because I believe him. I’ve been around long enough and I know stuff that happens and I can see a freakin’ witch hunt when it happens, and that’s what’s happening here.”

Playing more of Cuomo’s statement, the governor is seen attributing the reaction to what he saw as friendly gestures to connect with people “to generational or cultural perspectives that, frankly, I hadn’t fully appreciated.”

“A lot of people haven’t. He’s a 60-something-year-old-man, still calls a pretty girl in the office ‘sweetheart,'” Kelly concluded. “Look, you can read it for yourself. There are some things in here that — disturbing, maybe, but I think he’s being railroaded, I do. And we got a guy in the White House, Joe Biden. Everybody sees that this guy doesn’t know — he can’t control himself and we’ve been seeing it for years. We’ve seen this.”

“Joe? There’s a problem. I don’t see a problem with Andrew Cuomo, I don’t, I see a political witch hunt and I don’t know who exactly is behind it. Yet I have my theories. Take a look at the report. Read it, don’t let the media summarize it for you.”
