Obama to host hundreds of guests at birthday bash, but don’t call it a superspreader

Amid all the concern over the COVID-19 Delta variant surge, Barack Obama is set to host hundreds of guests invited to come help the former president celebrate his 60th birthday this coming weekend on Martha’s Vineyard.

If the birthday bash goes off as planned, the slobbering media will find themselves in a peculiar position of either criticizing the man many of them treated as a messiah or looking the other way, at least for a day, at what they’re currently telling the nation is a calamity.

Martha’s Vineyard does not qualify as an area of “substantially-high” risk, according to Axios, but there have been recent breakthrough cases in nearby Provincetown.

Citing a source with knowledge of the Obama party protocols, Axios reported that all guests will have to be COVID-tested. It’s not clear what the process will be to confirm this. It’s also not clear if guests will be required to don masks. The party is reportedly being held outdoors and guests are asked to be vaccinated — which we now know does not mean that they cannot still have the virus and spread it to others. Still, don’t expect them to be asking for vaccine passports at the door.

To ensure that there’s no mistake that the party is being planned by a Democrat there will also be a COVID-coordinator to ensure all proper protocols are followed.

Some of the details shared in the article about the party being planned at the Obamas $12-million home are that there were 475 confirmed guests, and 200-plus staff set to  work the party. Pearl Jam has been tapped to play at the event, and Steven Spielberg will be among the fabulously wealthy guests expected to attend.

Keep in mind that Jay-Z, Stevie Wonder, actor Tom Hanks and comedian Chris Rock were among those who helped Obama celebrate his 50th birthday in 2011 at the White House.

One guest we know will not be in attendance, other than Donald Trump, is President Joe Biden.

“While President Biden is unable to attend this weekend, he looks forward to catching up with former President Obama soon and properly welcoming him into the over-sixty club,” the White House said in a statement.

There was no bellyaching from the administration about the party being a potential superspreader. After all, it’s not like it’s a Trump party.

Another certainty… well, almost certain anyway, is that some in the media will find a way to blame Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is now the liberal media’s favorite whipping boy — a testament to how the fear his potential.

Here’s a sampling of responses to the story from those who watched the press scream from the rooftops about superspreaders last year over every Trump function:
