Our cold civil war

Op-ed views and opinions expressed are solely those of the author.

245 years ago our Founding Fathers made the revolutionary declaration that all men are created equal and that our Rights are unalienable. This declaration marked the beginning of the great American experiment, which rejected the amoral, age-old notion that the citizens’ Rights come from man, and replaced it with the moral ideal that our Rights come from our Creator.

But today, after nearly 25 decades of real progress towards fulfilling our original charter of freedom and equality for all, the successful American experiment suddenly seems to be failing.

For decades Democrats have tried and experimented with ways to end the American experiment. They finally found the successful formula they were seeking in March 2020 — a virus that originated in a Wuhan lab.

It’s apropos that the American government helped fund the gain of function research. Thanks Fauci. After all, Abraham Lincoln once predicted that “if destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.”

Unelected bureaucrats and politicians have used COVID to fundamentally transform the relationship between the American citizen and our Government. Since March of 2020 our Rights have gone from unalienable and God given to Government granted. In the name of public health, our fundamental Rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness have become subject to the whims of our totalitarian Government masters. This in itself is a violation of the Constitution, which declares that “we the people” are master and those in Government our “servants.”

While the Democratic Party has revealed their totalitarian ambitions, so too have many Republicans shown their totalitarian colors.

Mitch McConnell recently threatened unvaccinated Americans, saying “These shots need to get in everybody’s arms as rapidly as possible or we’re going to be back in a situation in the fall that we don’t yearn for.” Hey Mitch, you sound like a Democrat.

So too does Republican Governor Kay Ivey of Alabama. She recently said, “Folks are supposed to have common sense. But it’s time to start blaming the unvaccinated folks, not the vaccinated folks. It’s the unvaccinated folks that are letting us down.” Really Kay? How about celebrating the American ideal of freedom and individual choice? How about defending your constituents rather than attacking them?

Let’s not forget Biden’s most recent insult of the American people. He said, “if you’re not vaccinated you’re not nearly as smart as I thought you were.” This comes from the mouth of one of the dumbest men in America.

While the unvaccinated have become the scapegoats amidst an apparent resurgence of COVID cases, this is just another lie in a long train of abuses and usurpations. As Iceland nears a 70% vaccination rate their daily reported COVID cases have nearly risen to levels in October of 2020, at their peak. For perspective the United States has a 52% vaccination rate and our cases are at 23% of our peak.

The American Government is playing a game of leap frog, setting new arbitrary and unattainable goals each time the previously stated goal is met. 15 days to slow the spread become a month and then two months and then a year. Don’t wear a mask, wear a mask, wear two masks.

But they also continually reset. The vaccinated don’t have to wear masks. The vaccinated have to wear masks. The vaccine is effective. The vaccine may not be effective soon if the virus continues to mutate.

The truth is the unvaccinated aren’t the problem. COVID isn’t even the problem. American totalitarians are the problem. No matter what we do, it will never be enough, because COVID isn’t about COVID. It’s not even about public health. It’s about controlling the American people and reducing us to slaves. It’s about ending the American experiment and transferring power from the citizen to the Government in perpetuity.

MSNBC contributor Donny Deutsch recently said, “There’s an idiot percentage of this population that just needs to be told what to do.” Bingo Donny. Thank you for coming clean.

Like the plantation owner, who claimed the slave was better off and happier in a system in which their lives were run by others, our modern plantation owners believe the American citizen is incapable of living in a system in which we run our own lives. Well…that or they just get off on ruling over us. Probably both.

Not long ago Biden made the surprisingly coherent claim that America has “never been as divided as it is today since the Civil War.” This is the first statement he’s made that I agree with since he moved from a basement on a street in Delaware to a basement on Pennsylvania Avenue.

But I’ll take it further. We aren’t just as divided as we were during the Civil War, we are in the midst of a Cold Civil War. The battle too is the same — between those of us who are against slavery and those of us who are for slavery; only this time every American will be subject to the vile institution.

While the totalitarians are culpable though, so are we. This will end when we say it ends. We’re only enabling them so long as we comply.
