Super sensitive Rep Adam Kinzinger calls Laura Ingraham’s mockery a ‘cold-hearted thing’

U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger dismissed Fox News host Laura Ingraham’s mocking of his tearful moment during the first hearings of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s hand-picked Jan. 6 committee earlier this week, calling her derision a “cold-hearted thing.”

In an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Kinzinger, an Illinois Republican who is a vocal opponent of former President Donald Trump, responded to Ingraham’s claim that he and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) engaged in “theatrics” designed to stoke emotions while avoiding unpleasant facts surrounding the breach of the U.S. Capitol Building as lawmakers were meeting to officially certify the 2020 election for then-President-elect Joe Biden.

“It was really obnoxious and disgusting, one personality on Fox actually mocked you, calling those tears of yours a performance. How do you respond to that?” Blitzer asked in reference to Ingraham’s criticism after playing a clip of Kinzinger’s emotional moments.

“That personality on that television show I don’t think has ever served in uniform a day in his life,” Kinzinger responded, though later Blitzer would correct his vernacular (“her life”).

“I would argue that, you know, that is a very cold-hearted thing or it’s just simply driven on, you know, expanding your cold-hearted personality for ratings,” the Illinois Republican, who is being challenged in next year’s GOP primary for his 16th Congressional District seat by Catalina Lauf, a former top adviser to former President Donald Trump, continued.

Kinzinger went on to talk about how “hundreds of officers” were injured during the Capitol melee, adding that he’s “a military guy — military people and police officers kind of have…in essence, a shared brotherhood, if you will.”

Kinzinger is a lieutenant colonel in the Illinois Air National Guard after spending several years in the U.S. Air Force, piloting the KC-135 Stratotanker and RC-26 surveillance aircraft.

“I looked at these tough people who are willing to show their vulnerability to 350 million Americans, which is not something that police officers are usually excited to do,” he added. “They needed to be reminded of that. It caught me off-guard.

“But I think it’s just important to show people that these are human beings, and I think yesterday did a good job of showing the humanity of it outside of the cold political calculations that everybody takes every day out here,” he said.

On her Tuesday evening show, Ingraham explained that she believes Pelosi and Democrats are going to use the 1/6 committee hearings as a political show that will stretch into the 2022 midterm election cycle because “they know they’re going to lose big and they’re trying not to.”

“Now as this show has reiterated time and again, all criminal activity at the Capitol that day should be prosecuted and punished. There was certainly a lot of violence that day, but it was not a terrorist attack. It wasn’t 9/11. It wasn’t the worst thing that ever happened to America. It wasn’t an insurrection,” she said.

“It is with that knowledge that we will unveil the Angle Awards for today’s best performances,” Ingraham added, going on to say that it was a “tie” between Kinzinger and Schiff.

“We’re so driven by bigotry and hate that we attack our fellow citizens as traitors if they’re born in another country or if they don’t look like us, and God help us,” Schiff said during his opening statement, choking up.

“God save us from these third-rate theatrics,” Ingraham said in response.

Schiff, Kinzinger, and most Democrats have, for months, portrayed former President Donald Trump and all of his supporters, including the vast majority who came to hear him speak Jan. 6 and did not take part in the Capitol breach, as traitors and “insurrectionists.”
