‘Because we said so’ response from White House on re-masking signals ugly end-game, Tucker explains

Fox News’ Tucker Carlson condemned the Biden administration during his Tuesday evening program for its arrogance in insisting that even Americans who have been vaccinated for COVID-19 should now be forced to wear masks in public again.

In particular, Carlson honed in on an exchange between the network’s White House correspondent Peter Doocy and White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki in which the reporter repeatedly asked for the administration’s justification for recommending vaccinated Americans mask up despite simultaneously claiming that the vaccines effectively protected them against catching or spreading the virus.

In his lead-up to playing a video clip of the exchange between Doocy and Psaki, Carlson said that earlier in the day, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced new guidelines that included forcing kids to wear masks again this school year, “this despite the scientifically established fact that masks pose a far greater threat to children than COVID does.”

“Strictly speaking, as a scientific matter, this is lunacy,” he continued, adding that the new guidance calls for adults to wear masks as well even if they’ve gotten their full COVID vaccine dose.

He reminded viewers that Americans have been told for months since COVID vaccines became available that if they got one, they would be able to return to normal life much more quickly.

“Americans were promised that if they took the vaccines, they could have their lives back. So by the millions, they did that. Now they’ve learned in the clearest possible way that they were lied to,” Carlson said. “They got their shots, but the Biden administration has decided to continue to control what they wear, where they go and who they talk to. Why are they doing that? What’s happening here, exactly?

“A rational person might conclude there must be something very wrong with the vaccines. Maybe they don’t work as intended. But no. The administration assures us that the vaccines work perfectly. They’re miracle drugs. OK. So why the masks?” Carlson said before playing a video clip of the back-and-forth between Doocy and Psaki.

“If it’s a pandemic of the unvaccinated still, then why vaccinated people need to put the masks back on?” Doocy asked, referring to recent increases in sickness and hospitalizations of mostly unvaccinated Americans as the newer Delta variant of COVID-19 spreads.

“If you are vaccinated, it can save your life. And I think the clear data shows that this pandemic is killing, is hospitalizing, is making people very sick who are not vaccinated. Does that still continue to be the case regardless of what the mask guidance looks like?” Psaki said in response.

Doocy pressed: “If vaccines work…why do people who’ve had the vaccine need to wear masks the same as people who have not had it?

“Because the public health leaders in our administration have made the determination, based on data, that is a way to make sure they are protected, their loved ones are protected, and that’s an extra step given the transmissibility of the virus,” said the White House spokeswoman.

“So the vaccines work, the only people getting sick are the unvaccinated, but the vaccinated still have to wear masks. Why is that?” Carlson recapped.

“You just read it. Quote: ‘public health leaders in our administration have made the determination.’ In other words, because we said so. That’s the medical justification for suffocating your third grader with a paper mask forever,” Carlson said.

Moving on, the host predicted that a government which continues to require Americans to do things that make no sense or that go against rational thought can’t last.

“What you’re watching is a decaying system based on presumed expertise finally reach its ugly end-stage. At some point, it will be gone, because it has no legitimacy. Whatever comes next will be very different from what we’re living through now,” he said.

Carlson then ripped the administration’s new mask guidance again, noting that it runs afoul of a newly-published study in a noted medical journal showing that the existing COVID vaccines are highly effective against the original strain of the virus as well as the new Delta variant.

“A rational administration would make vaccines available to anyone who wants one, and leave the rest of the population alone to live their lives — like they used to do in America back when it was a free country,” he said.
