Left-wing actress-turned-activist Susan Sarandon headlined a protest at the New York office of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY, on Monday, calling her out for a lack of representation in Washington.

Standing in front of the sophomore representative’s office in The Bronx, Sarandon addressed the crowd and Ocasio-Cortez through a megaphone in a rare departure from the unintelligible yelling and screaming normally associated with protests on the left.

“I’m here to say to the squad, and especially AOC, who, you know did make a lot of promises, that we still have faith in you and we would like to see if you have a better plan than we’ve been able to see, please share it,” Sarandon calmly pleaded.

“If there’s a pathway you’ve got that we’re not aware of please share it. Because we’re losing hope here that you represent us,” she said.

Sarandon’s principal complaint appeared to be the inability of the squad, and particularly AOC, to fill a pandemic recovery bill with the desired amount of pork.

“You didn’t demand a floor vote on it when you had the power to leverage the speaker vote. You didn’t demand that single-payer be included in the pandemic recovery bill,” Sarandon lamented.

“You moved the introduction of the House bill ’til after the stimulus bill passed, reducing your own leverage. You have never demanded that Biden use Section 1881A of the Social Security Act to expand Medicare to every American by executive action,” she added.

In addition, the crowd and Sarandon called for President Joe Biden to declare the COVID-19 pandemic a public health crisis, thereby granting him emergency powers to ram through Medicare expansion, describing it as a way to clear a path for “a fearless new campaign for single-payer” health care.

The fact that Americans are so used to 5000-page bills with incoherent government-speak and appropriations for any number of programs specializing in fraud, waste and abuse is part of the problem, too.

Of course, leftists like Sarandon are happy to have the federal government lording over them as long as they’ve got the right overlords doing it.

Expressing more dissatisfaction, Sarandon went on to say, “It’s so difficult for people that are independent to get elected in the first place — and then to see the very people that sponsored the bill not stand up for it, is very disheartening.”

This, of course, is not unique to either side of the political aisle. As most of our legislators could be considered charity cases, Sarandon would be wise to “get used to disappointment,” as the Man in Black tells Inigo in The Princess Bride.

In fact, one Twitter user raised a point that Susan Sarandon seems to have overlooked:

I don’t think aoc reps Susan Sarandon, but why does she think anyone has a plan for passing a bill that only like ten house and senate members support? How is this aocs fault?

The leftist protest, billed as a Medicare for All rally, was an aberration in that it was not fiery nor did it result in death and destruction.
