Rahm Emanuel calls for ‘reward-punishment system’ to force people to get vaccinated

The coordinated campaign underway across America to urge folks to get vaccinated against COVID-19 is truly something to behold.

ABC’s “This Week” rolled out a bipartisan panel featuring former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a Republican, and Margaret Hoover, who is billed as a conservative political commentator and, representing Democrats, former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, as well as former DNC chair Donna Brazile, who supports vaccine mandates.

But leave it to Emanuel, the man who mouthed the words you never want a serious crisis to go to waste, to say there needs to be a “reward-punishment system” to force people to get vaccinated.

The Democratic politician agreed with Hoover, who said officials can avoid a vaccine mandate by making it “impossible” for the unvaccinated to function in society.

“There’s a lot of things we can do without calling it a mandate,” Hoover said. “Just make it almost impossible for people to live their lives without being protected and protect us.”

“I agree,” Emanuel chimed in. “I’m the son of a pediatrician. The fact is no child can show up at school this fall without showing their immunizations — smallpox and measles. You have to make this familiar to people. Second is, and I think this is an important point, I would close the space in. If you want to participate in activities, you gotta show you’re vaccinated. So it becomes a reward-punishment system.”

“You make your own calculation,” he added. “The other thing is, the fact is there’s data this week that 30% of health care workers are not vaccinated. They have got to lead by example.”

Emanuel would later turn up the screws even more on the medical profession not being vaccinated, saying it’s “an unbelievable wrong example that gives people a permission slip” not to get vaccinated.

“My own recommendation is the religious community ecumenically, across the board, needs to speak up and encourage people,” he said. “So you hit all populations with a singular message. I do give credit to the White House, whether it’s Fox TV, whether it’s Republican leaders, getting a chorus of voices across the spectrum, not just political, religious, business,  et cetera, with a singular message and lead by example.”

He may not have realized it, but Emanuel just explained how Democrats create an echo chamber to establish their preferred narrative.

Christie, who declared earlier that Republicans are “willing to be vaccinated, they don’t want to be indoctrinated,” jumped in to seemingly endorse the idea of firing health care workers who don’t get vaccinated, citing a hospital system in New Jersey that fired five staffers who would not do so.

In Texas, a total of 153 workers at Houston Methodist Hospital either resigned or were fired last month after refusing to get the shot.

The Republican then suggested that other employers, like JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs, are going to tell employees they must be vaccinated when the summer is over and they’re returning to work.

One thing is certain, the harder politicians push people to get vaccinated, the harder some push back.
