President Joe Biden continues to display bizarre behavior from time to time, the latest example of this being seen late Wednesday as the president was returning to the White House from his CNN “town hall.”
At the event, where the president shared enough distortions and misinformation to keep Big Tech’s fact-checker brigade busy for a week, without nary an objection from host Don Lemon, Biden was asked about Democrats being seen as “anti-police,” and he responded: “They aren’t saying ‘Joe Biden is anti-police.’ Cops are not saying that about Joe Biden. They know me. Period!”
A reporter asked Biden on his way into the Executive Mansion to clarify his remarks while asking about the defund the police movement within the party.
“I didn’t say that,” he replied, leaning in awkwardly. “That is not the Democratic Party’s position. I am the Democratic Party. I am the president. So is the speaker of the House, so is the majority leader. We are not defunding the police, and have not.”
The reporter followed up by asking if there are Democrats who want to defund the police.
“Are there people in the Republican party who think we’re sucking the blood out of kids?” the president asked, in return — successfully dodging the question.
“I’m not sure,” the reporter answered before Biden waved her off dismissively and walked away.
While some reporters can be heard yukking it up, thoroughly entertained by the man many of them helped elect, his remarks — a play on the so-called QAnon movement — were a far cry from the promise made during his inauguration that “unity is the path forward.”
A member of Biden’s administration, Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta, has pushed for defunding the police — she downplayed the stance during her nomination process.
“While front-end systems changes are important, it is also critical for state and local leaders to heed calls from Black Lives Matter and Movement for Black Lives activists to decrease police budgets and the scope, role, and responsibility of police in our lives,” she said during a July 2020 Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.
While the national party moved away from the defund the police movement after polling showed it to be unpopular with the American people, Democratic lawmakers continue to push the effort and there are local Democrats across the country actually defunding police.
Earlier this month, a district judge ordered the city of Minneapolis to “immediately take any and all necessary action to ensure that they fund a police force,” to include hiring more police officers, KARE11 reported.
The ruling came in a lawsuit filed in response to calls to defund the police force and the departure of officers after the death of George Floyd in May 2020. With crime in the city surging, the Minneapolis Police Department is significantly understaffed.
Hennepin County District Judge Jamie Anderson said that in understaffing the police force, Democratic Mayor Jacob Frey and the council “failed to perform an official duty clearly imposed by law.”
As for Biden, his performance didn’t help with the concerns many Americans have about his mental acuity.
Here’s a sampling of responses to the story from Twitter:

Answer a question with a question… they just normally aren’t such weird questions. I was never a fan of Trump, as he would say stupid things, but Biden is actually on another level.

Why is @POTUS Joe Biden talking about sucking the blood of children on live television? why does he always say he’s gonna get in trouble for saying what he is saying? Does this senile old man realize where he is and what he is supposed to be? Someone needs to put him in a home
