Another Democrat-run city has chosen to ignore all other pressing problems such as crime and instead declare racism to be the true threat to its existence.
Led by Democrat Mayor Erin Mendenhall, the Salt Lake City Council on Tuesday declared racism a public health crisis through the passing of a resolution.
As seen below, the resolution is jam-packed with left-wing buzzwords like “systemic racism,” “equity,” “diversity” and “inclusion.”

We are publicly acknowledging the existence of a grave inequity many in our community have long experienced, and are committing ourselves to creating policies and ordinances that are anti-racist pic.twitter.com/WIs4VvkjuI

“[I]n our capacity as a local municipal authority we declare racism as a moral and public health crisis in our city, state, and nation and reaffirm our commitment to the principles of the Utah Compact on Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion,” the resolution reads.
“[W]e commit to look internally, externally, and encourage all who reside, work, and own businesses in our city to commit to the work necessary to dismantle racist legacies and equitably work to repair our communities,” it adds.
But there’s a reason that so-called “Diversity,” “Inclusion” and “Equity” spell out DIE.
“Equity” is a code word for equal outcomes. Whereas the equality sought by civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. was about ensuring everyone is afforded the same opportunity, the “equity” sought by his radicalized contemporaries is about ensuring everyone benefits from the same outcome.
The problem with “equity” is that the only way to manifest equal outcomes is through discrimination. That’s why the supporters of “equity” are OK with discriminating against Asians and whites through affirmative action.
South Africa is an example of what happens when a nation prioritizes “DIE” over merit.

In 2003, the South African government instituted the Broad-Based Black Economic Employment program, an “equity” program that forces businesses, institutions, etc. to use racial preferences and quotas in their decision-making.
The consequences of this policy have been devastating, according to South African journalist Rian Malan.
“Investment dried up. Brains drained. The economy stagnated, causing unemployment to surge to 11.4 million today, from 3.3 million in 1994. The upshot: utter misery for the underclass, doomed to sit in tin shacks, half-starved, watching the black elite grow fat on the pickings of equity laws and rampant corruption,” he wrote this week for the New York Post.
This is what “DIE,” which is at the core of so-called “anti-racism” does; it transfers wealth from those who earned it to those who didn’t earn it but who happen to boast the “correct” skin color.
The “correct” skin color is determined by disparate impact. This theory says that any disparity is automatic proof of racism. And so, if fewer black people obtain jobs in STEM fields, it must be because of racism. Or if fewer black students attend a school for the gifted, it must be because of racism.
So-called “anti-racism” applies disparate impact in the real world by bestowing the alleged “victims” of racism with special perks and privileges. This has real-world consequences, such as those seen in South Africa, but also those that have occurred at the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.
In a column last month, Asra Q. Nomani explained that once one of America’s most prominent gifted schools, TJ has since been gutted by “anti-racism.”
“TJ was established in 1985 as a magnet school for gifted students dedicated to studying in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM fields as they’re colloquially known,” she wrote for The Washington Post.
“But this past year, school leaders bemoaned a lack of ‘diversity’ at TJ and launched a crusade to change admissions. The student body is about 80 percent minority, but the wrong kind of minority for school officials, with about 70 percent Asian and about 10 percent of the minority students Black, Hispanic and multiracial.”
In response to this disparate impact, officials re-engineered the school’s longtime standards to benefit blacks and Hispanics at the expense of Asians.
“Tossing the merit-based, race-blind admissions exam and other rigorous standards, they instituted a ‘holistic’ admissions process with quotas and subjective criteria, such as ‘experience factors,’ that would allow them to achieve a more ‘equitable’ and desirable racial balance at TJ,” Nomani explained.
This is “DIE” in a nutshell, and according to Democrat leaders like Mendenhall, it’s the best path forward. Unfortunately, she’s not alone in feeling this way.

The Biden administration has also endorsed this same attitude with its incessant screeds about the need for “diversity,” “inclusion” and “equity.”
During his first day in office, President Joe Biden signed an executive order “on advancing equity and support for underserved communities through the federal government.”
He later went on to effectively endorse affirmative action and to start doling out COVID aid based on race.
Similar events once happened in South Africa …
