CNN’s white host messed with the wrong black Congressman in tense interview

U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) is providing a succinct, retrospective analysis of his high-profile interview last month with agenda-driven CNN anchor Brianna Keilar during which she came off as an apologist for the Congressional Black Caucus and Democrats generally.

Keilar claimed that the CBC had yet to extend an invitation to the first-term congressman to join the group because his views — such as his support for former President Trump and for voting reform laws, as well as challenging the outcome of Election 2020 — were “incongruent” with the CBC’s mission.

During the course of the June 10 interview, Keilar also insisted, among other things, that the presidential election was “verifiably secure.”

In attendance at a Turning Point USA conference in Tampa, Fla., as he recalled the CNN back and forth, Donalds implied that the condescending co-anchor of “New Day” on a network still obsessed with Donald Trump was out of her lane in an attempt to spew Democrat talking points.

“Brianna Keilar tried to prove a point that she knows more about what black voters want than I do or, frankly, than anybody does. Or that Democrats somehow know more, or that if you somehow supported Donald Trump or if you…objected to the election…that somehow that you aren’t allowed to speak for black people, and that’s the reason why you’re excluded,” Donalds told Fox Nation.

“I think the reason why it went well is because I pushed back. I wasn’t gonna allow her to set a narrative; I wasn’t gonna allow her to interrupt me trying to push in another point that she wanted to put in. I’m not going to do that,” Donalds continued about Keilar.

“If CNN and MSNBC, [if] they want to interview me, I’m very cordial and very nice, but if you try to interrupt me to push in your agenda items, I’m gonna stop you dead in your tracks, and we’re going to get back to the business of the interview.”

Acknowledging that he is an occasional viewer (like the rest of America) of ratings-challenged CNN, Donalds went on to say: “The people at CNN — they have an agenda, they have a political agenda.”

“Let’s be very clear,” Donalds said. “They have a political viewpoint; the political viewpoint moves forward on everything they report. And it’s not just the anchors. It’s the producers, and it’s the people at the top of the organization.”

Despite all the challenges on the domestic and international level, CNN programming is still fundamentally preoccupied with “news” about the ex-president, the lawmaker noted.

“Our border is a mess, people aren’t going back to work, you see what’s going on in Cuba, you have the vaccine situation going on, there’s plenty of things to be talking about, not to mention mismanagement at the federal level and massive overspending and inflation going on, but they all wanna do is talk about Trump. So they do it to themselves. That’s not me, that’s them,” Donalds concluded.

During the aforementioned CNN interview, which is embedded below in two parts, Donalds — who represents Florida’s 19th congressional district in the Fort Myers/Naples area — hinted that the CBC should invite him to join if they are really interested in ideological diversity among the membership, particularly someone who has achieved the American Dream.

“I’m a poor kid from Brooklyn, New York…I’ve been able to be successful in my life, so whether it’s talking about jobs or yes, even voting rights, or anything the CBC wants to talk about, I have a perspective being a 42-year-old  black man who is come up in America after the battles through the civil rights movement that I think would be actually helpful, and a helpful perspective to the CBC…having a wide-range of discussions from all sides of the political framework is important,” he asserted.

Even Keilar — who separately has urged disgraced Democrat Katie Hill to run for office for again — had to concede now that the CBC has not exactly rolled out the welcome wagon to African-American Republican lawmakers in Congress.

Rep. Donalds is obviously not the only news consumer who has noticed how CNN, which is hemorrhaging viewership, still operates as an around-the-clock, anti-Trump informercial even six months into the Biden administration.

Comedian Bill Burr, for example, described “dumb” CNN programmers as “f—ing morons,” and worse, for continuing to cover Trump as if he’s “Star Wars” villain Darth Vader.
