Ex-Trump lawyer Jenna Ellis quits GOP on air: Even if I stand alone, I will stand for truth

Jenna Ellis, President Trump’s former senior legal adviser, announced on-air Monday that she was leaving the Republican Party, taking shots at both Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and the Republican National Committee on her way out.

“All of them, including (RNC Chair) Ronna McDaniel, should resign now,” Ellis said on “Real America’s Voice.”

“Until they do, as of today, I am resigning from the party. I am changing my voter registration and I am no longer a Republican until the party decides that it wants to be conservative again,” she announced.

“Even if I stand alone for the truth, I will stand for the truth,” the attorney continued. “A compromised, corrupted majority is not a majority worth being a part of.”

The announcement came after the disclosure of an email from Justin Riemer, chief counsel for the RNC, criticizing the effort to challenge the 2020 election results led by Rudy Giuliani and Ellis, calling it “a joke” that was misleading millions of people.

Taking aim at the DC political class, which she said encompasses both parties, Ellis insisted the “truth matters,” as she ripped the GOP for placing greater importance on the desire to hold power than on principles.

“It’s why you see Republicans compromise on issues,” she said, “vote in ways they shouldn’t, backstab President Trump and ultimately not function as statesmen but mere politicians who think they are entitled to be in power.”

Ellis said the “swamp” is “far worse” than she ever imagined, suggesting the GOP is not any better than the Democratic Party, and that many in the party care more about their own power “than truly serving their country, or serving President Trump.”

She tore into McConnell for standing up on the floor of the Senate after “the second impeachment hoax” and ranting about Trump. Ellis also ripped the RNC for raising money on Trump’s name while “sabotaging” him behind the scenes.

“What happened to the millions raised by the RNC in November and December of 2020 — the Trump team never saw a dime of that help,” she argued.

She also shared that when she challenged McDaniel over Giuliani telling Riemer to resign, as noted in a new book by Michael Wolff, that the RNC chair blocked her on Twitter.

Ellis insisted in a Sunday evening tweet that the Giuliani story “is true,” but an RNC spokesperson claimed it was “simply false.” She also said that McDaniel promised to fire Reimer and did not follow through.

“What Rudy and Jenna are doing is a joke and they are getting laughed out of court,” Riemer reportedly wrote in a Nov. 28 email to former RNC official Liz Harrington. “They are misleading millions of people who have wishful thinking that the president is going to somehow win this thing.”

He also noted that fundraising is better for the GOP when Democrats are in office.

Riemer released a statement about his criticism, according to The Washington Post.

“I led the RNC legal team in over 55 lawsuits on behalf of the President’s reelection, winning a majority of them, including the only successful post-election lawsuit. Any suggestion that I did not support President Trump or do everything in my power to support the RNC’s efforts to reelect President Trump is false,” Riemer said. “I will say publicly now what I then said privately: I take issue with individuals who brought lawsuits that did not serve President Trump well and did not give him the best chance in court.”

Harrington is now Trump’s spokeswoman and she said in response to the story, “The only thing that’s a joke is the idea that Joe Biden got 81 million votes.”
