U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., may not be eager to go toe-to-toe with her Republican colleagues in the House chamber, but she is apparently more than happy to troll them on social media.
The self-described democratic socialist responded to a tweet from U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., telling the federal government to leave Americans “the hell alone” during a speech Saturday at CPAC 2021 in Dallas
“We’re here to tell the government we don’t want your benefits, we don’t want your welfare. Don’t come banging on my door with your Fauci ouchy; you leave us the hell alone,” the freshman Republican said, confidently strutting around the stage in a pair of jeans.
The crowd ate it up, and Boebert was clearly having a good time.
But the image of a proud Second Amendment supporting conservative woman being willing to voice her convictions drove the left batty and AOC couldn’t resist weighing in, although it’s a strong tell that the hill she chose to do battle on was government welfare.
Allowing her anti-capitalist, class warfare inner-self to get the better of her, Ocasio-Cortez contorted Boebert’s words in a tweet: “Tell ‘em loud and proud girl! GOP will strip your unemployment protections and dismantle any semblance of a public safety net we have left! Then make working people pay way more for everything on low wages while Wall St gets a meal ticket!”

Now, if you didn’t expect Boebert not to push back, you haven’t been paying attention to this vocal political newcomer, part of a class of Trump Republicans willing to give as good as they get in today’s acerbic political climate.
Respond she did, with Boebert calling Ocasio-Cortez “Sandy,” a reference to reports that AOC was known as Sandy Cortez in her elite Yorktown, New York, high school.
That the GOP firebrand mentioned Ocasio-Cortez’s “abuela” was icing on the cake — you may recall Ocasio-Cortez blaming former President Donald Trump for stopping aid to repair hurricane damage at her grandmother’s home in Puerto Rico.
(The tweet blew up on AOC when she showed photos of the damage that occurred almost four years ago, as people asked why she didn’t help with her congressional salary.)
“Oh please, Sandy. Ask Abuela how that government reliance is going. Nobody is taking safety nets away,” Boebert tweeted. “Growing up in a Democrat household, I stood in line for bread and government cheese. I want more for your grandma, just as I did for me. Don’t limit the American dream.”
Desperate to prove she’s a better person, the ranking member of “the Squad” swung and missed when she called Boebert a “conservative role model… who mocks other people’s ill grandparents.”
“Thank you for proving to the world that today’s version of ‘conservative role model’ is a person who mocks other people’s ill grandparents on the internet. I can promise you I will treat your family better than you do mine. And I’ll fight for your constituents more, too,” Ocasio Cortez countered.

In reality, Boebert did not mock Ocasio-Cortez’s grandmother, she explicitly stated that she wanted more for her than being dependent on the government. As for being a conservative role model, what could be more compelling than that?
Recall the words of Ronald Reagan? “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: I’m from the Government, and I’m here to help.”
Self-reliance and personal responsibility, which are the cornerstone of America’s very founding, are the greatest enemies to the radical left’s Marxist-inspired agenda. All of which explains the ongoing cultural revolution seeking to destroy this bedrock.
Boebert had a ready response, referring to the rejection of a GoFundMe collection for Ocasio-Cortez’s grandmother by conservative Matt Walsh.
“If that’s how you take care of your family, I can see why they’d rely on the government,” she tweeted. “I’ll keep fighting for our great country that allows fools like you to have two apartments & a Tesla.”
