A seemingly nice gesture by President Joe Biden has drawn negative attention because of his history of inappropriate behavior toward females, including young girls.
While visiting with and reportedly consoling victims of the Surfside condominium building collapse on July 1st, the president reportedly zeroed in on a 12-year-old girl whose father and uncle remain missing and are may be among the deceased.
A viral photo of the encounter shows him standing right in the young girl’s face, his hands firmly gripping her wrists and her eyes meekly staring down.

The photo triggered concerns because it wasn’t that long ago, relatively speaking, that Biden had vowed to “be more mindful about respecting personal space.”
The apology and vow came after women began speaking out about his inappropriate touching, and as an aside, critics began drawing attention to the numerous times that Biden had also inappropriately touched young girls.
Yet here he was now “invading” a young girl’s space, as some put it, and allegedly holding her wrists with a “controlling grip.”
Look at some of the criticism below:
This is not right…. This is a controlling grip. pic.twitter.com/5bYCDmHLVH

Yeah this is totally the expression of comfort and consent. This man is a legit predator. pic.twitter.com/U0SolmCh3f

The girl does not look thrilled to have her wrist bound by bidens firm hold on them. This is abuse by intimidation first of all, abuse by not allowing the child to walk away, and we do not know what he is saying to her to make her look down at the floor. She is uncomfortable.

Thank you for explaining that so well. Hes an old pro at this crap, and he is so used to getting away with it. If people can’t see in this picture how clearly he is in total control of her, take another look.

He’s not holding her hands, nor is she holding his.
HE’S HOLDING HER WRISTS!
This is not consensual though it’s made to look like innocent hand holding. It is clearly control. She cannot let go. She’d have to break his grip. He’s used to doing this. Make no mistake.

What is the context. What is this event? Does anyone know? I can’t see that it could matter, but it would be good to know. If it were his granddaughter it would still be inappropriate. He seems to always stand at least too close to women.

In fairness to the president, this is not the only photo captured from the meeting.
Another photo shows the girl hugging the president in what appears — though appearances can be deceiving — to be a consensual embrace.

According to Miami station WPLG, Surfside Mayor Charles Burkett had set up the meeting between the two.
“I said, ‘Mr. President, if you wouldn’t mind, I would like you to at least say hello to her.’ He looked at me and said, ‘Bring her right now,'” the mayor recalled.
According to Burkett, besides meeting with the girl, he also “wrote a special note” for her. The contents of the note are unclear.
The president’s interaction with the girl in Surfside is one of many, many, many recent examples of him interacting with young girls in ways that drew bad attention.
“I love those barrettes in your hair. I tell you what, look at her. She looks like she’s 19 years old sitting there like a little lady with her legs crossed,” he said to a little girl during a Memorial Day weekend speech to military families.

This “creepy” debacle came two days after he made another set of creepy comments — these ones about deceased Minneapolis criminal suspect George Floyd’s 7-year-old daughter.
After meeting with Floyd’s daughter, the president described his interactions with her to the press.
“The first thing she did when she ran in, she just threw her arms around me, gave me a big hug and wanted to sit in my lap,” he said.
“And we spent … she also loved the idea that … she said, ‘I’m really hungry.’ She said, ‘Do you have any snacks?’” the president added.
A reporter then asked, “What did you give her?”
“Well, my wife would kill me. We gave her some ice cream, she had some Cheetos and I think she had some chocolate milk. I’m not sure,” the president replied.

It’s not clear what compels him to behave like this and why he’s seemingly reneged on his vow to be more mindful of people’s personal space.
