Charlie Kirk: Over-reaching colleges forcing vaccinations are setting up a ‘medical apartheid’

Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk is launching an effort to stop so-called COVID-19 vaccine coercion on college campuses which he says could lead to an “apartheid-style open-air hostage situation” for students who are already at low risk for the virus.

“You can have your freedom back if you get the jab. This is unacceptable. We’re gonna fight back against it,” Kirk told Fox News’s Tucker Carlson.

The host of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on the Fox News Channel began the segment with Kirk by suggesting that, when it comes to this vaccine, Democrats and others in the political/public health establishment, if not the corporate media, have abandoned the traditional “my body, my choice” mantra.

Carlson noted that the latter turns out to be a “complete lie,” especially since President Joe Biden wants to send operatives door-to-door to verify vaccine compliance.

In describing how colleges are demanding that students get the vaccine (and prove it) as a condition of returning to their in-person studies, Carlson quipped this “beyond belief” situation is somewhat equivalent to what is portrayed in the dystopian novel and TV show “The Handmaid’s Tale” about what right-wingers would do if they got control of the government.

The pop-culture reference appears to be yet another ironic example of the left accusing the right of what the left wants to do.

Carlson added that those students who have recovered from COVID probably shouldn’t get the shot (presumably because they possess the antibodies) given what he says are the health risks involved.

“It used to be it was your choice. You could decide what medicine to take. If you didn’t think you wanted it or needed it or was good for you, you didn’t have to take it…” Carlson said, teeing it up for Kirk. “It’s not your body; it’s not your choice.”

Kirk, who — along with his wife — is declining the shot, said that he began getting feedback from college students who are members of his organization about vaccine mandates, which led to the creation of the No Forced Vax campaign.

The students told him that “if we do not get the vaccine, then we’re gonna have to be subject to testing where we have to take online courses or wear a mask, sometimes outside, at universities where we’ve been told that masking actually makes almost no difference outside the transmission of the virus.

“What’s happening here is force and control, and what’s been really strange to see is how few organizations or people are pushing back against this,” Kirk noted.

“We are not going to tolerate students to be forced to get the vaccine against their will. This is a very simple issue; it’s about medical freedom and privacy, and if you have concerns above the vaccine, which by the way a lot of people do, including Dr. [Robert] Malone and  [Bret] Weinstein, you should be able to opt out of the vaccine, especially if you are an 18, 19, or 20-year-old, where you are the lowest risk cohort in the entire country of dying from the Chinese coronavirus,” Kirk continued.

Kirk also mentioned the side effects that some young people have experienced after receiving the vaccine.

“At Turning Point USA, we are gonna give it everything we have to make sure that students are not gonna have to live in a medical apartheid because they don’t want to get the vaccine,” Kirk insisted.

Turning Point’s program purportedly includes legal efforts to possibly expand religious exemptions especially at public universities as well as a massive public relations campaign to reassure potentially stigmatized students that they are not alone. He added that there will be an outreach to Republican governors and state legislators to try to convince them to protect health freedom by law.

“I hope that people will not comply by any means necessary. I think it’s that important not to force you to take medicine that you don’t want, you don’t need, and could hurt you,” Carlson asserted as the segment concluded.

Carlson has repeatedly stated that he is not anti-vax, but in general, he also suggested the people should be able to raise questions in good faith about the COVID-19 medicine — which has yet to receive FDA approval — and has called out government officials for various inconsistent pronouncements about vaccines, mask-wearing, and the like.

In a March 2021 report, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention admitted that “Obesity increases the risk for severe COVID-19–associated illness.”
