To promote inclusion, Walt Disney World in Florida has reportedly removed the words “ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls” from the pre-show announcement for its “Happily Ever After” nightly fireworks spectacular.
The prerecorded intro in the Magic Kingdom still bids good evening to “dreamers of all ages,” but the traditional gender-related language is gone.
The Twitter feed @ShowcaseWishes uploaded a video that contains the 2020 announcement and the one that is now being used to highlight the change. See the clip embedded below. Disney just brought back the fireworks show after a year-plus hiatus owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The revised announcement is apparently already in effect at the Disney resort in Tokyo and will shortly be implemented at Disneyland in California and presumably the company’s other theme parks which feature a similar pyrotechnic presentation.
The newly edited public message is “part of a broader effort. It’s not about one or two things,” a Disney rep told CBS News.
The revised PA announcement is reportedly the result of ultra-woke Disney’s diversity and inclusion initiative that Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro touted in an April 2021 blog post headlined “A place where everyone is welcome.”

“We want our guests to see their own backgrounds and traditions reflected in the stories, experiences and products they encounter in their interactions with Disney. And we want our cast members – and future cast members – to feel a sense of belonging at work,” D’Amaro wrote, in part, about what Walt Disney described in 1955 as a happy place.
“That means cultivating an environment where all people feel welcomed and appreciated for their unique life experiences, perspectives and culture. Where we celebrate allyship and support for each other. And where diverse views and ideas are sought after as critical contributions towards our collective success.,” he added.
“Inclusion is essential to our culture…The world is changing, and we will change with it, and continue to be a source of joy and inspiration for all the world. We’ll never stop working to make sure that Disney is a welcoming place for all.”
Parenthetically, the commitment to inclusivity and diversity on the part of Disney did not stop it from firing “Mandalorian” actress Gina Carano earlier this year for what amounts to a diversity of thought. Plus, in early June, a longtime executive sued Disney and several subsidiaries for alleged sexual orientation discrimination.
Social media reaction to the modified pre-fireworks announcement was mixed, but the news did not put some commenters in a happy place. Here is a sampling:
Just one more step on our way to hell.

In a vacuum that might be true but given the trend of virtue signaling from corporations and SJW’s eagerly being manipulated by their corporate overlords due to said virtue signaling tells me this wasnt just about practicality.

I’m not a dreamer though…I’m kinda offended by this to be honest.
— Chris (@ChrisLuckmann) July 1, 2021
Yeah, until the new trend of “ageless” pops up and ppl will be offended and feel unseen. 🤦🏾♀️
— Demetria Bridges (@demetriaSpeak) July 1, 2021
What if someone identifies as a Nightmares, not a Dreamer? That’s not very inclusive to say dreamers.
— Kelavia (@kelavia_draagyn) July 2, 2021
Nobody asked for this. @WaltDisneyCo is digging their own grave.
— Michael Tardi (@MTARDI32) July 3, 2021
Absolutely ridiculous! When will this crap end? Trying to be “more inclusive” ends up becoming more offensive. What if I am a pragmatist and not a dreamer? I guess now I am excluded.
— Lee Morrell (@leemorrell) July 3, 2021
Imagine being so hateful and insecure about your own self that you hated that Disney wants to make everyone feel welcome at *Disney*.
— Mary Smith (@MarySmithWrites) July 3, 2021
By calling everyone “dreamers”, Disney is clearly discriminating against people who are insomniac or suffer from dream anxiety disorders.
— Hal_alala (@cixelsyd00) July 3, 2021
Here’s the new dreamer. Disney Corp. dreaming they had the money in my wallet that will never spent in their parks again!
— Len Coia (@LenCoia1) July 3, 2021
You know what oversensitivity looks like? Getting mad that a theme park changed their greeting.
— The Pickled Submariner (@sean_pickering) July 2, 2021
In this day and age, with all that is going on in the world, this is what you choose to focus on?! Bravo to Disney for making EVERYONE feel accepted (unlike others in this thread).
— Diane Henrick (@thechaoticone) July 3, 2021
Wait a second…..DREAMERS of all ages??
Aren’t Dreamers what Democrats call illegal immigrants who were brought over with their illegal immigrant parents?
So now they are only welcoming DREAMERS???They will never get another red cent from me or my family.
