A reporter for the British Broadcasting Corporation confused actor/comedian Bill Cosby with ex-commander in chief Bill Clinton, prompting the network to issue an on-air apology for the error.
While doing a live shot outside the prison that previously housed Cosby, BBC correspondent Michelle Fleury told U.K. viewers and the London anchor the following:
“Huw, for the last two years this has been where Bill Clinton has called home. But tonight he will sleep in his own bed after the bombshell decision by Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court to overturn his conviction of sexual assault on the grounds that his Fifth Amendment rights — that is, the right against self-incrimination — were violated.”
Back in the studio, anchor Huw Edwards corrected the gaffe, which may or may not have been an example of a Freudian slip.
“Just to clarify, what was said there in Michelle’s introduction to the story, when she mistakenly said Bill Clinton instead of Bill Cosby, we apologize for the mistake. The story, of course, is about Bill Cosby the entertainer.”
MSNBC made a similar error back in 2016.

“Clinton, the former president of the United States, has been linked to several sex scandals but has no such criminal record,” Fox News observed.
Former hospital administrator Juanita Broaddrick has accused Democrat Clinton of raping her in a Little Rock, Ark., hotel room in April 1978 during the time he was the state’s attorney general and a candidate for governor.
Several other women have leveled misconduct accusations against Clinton.
Pennsylvania’s highest cut Cosby, 83, loose on Wednesday in, in part because the criminal prosecution violated an agreement he made with the previous district attorney who had determined there was insufficient evidence to go forward.
As part of the deal, Cosby was required to testify in a civil case against him, and the later-unsealed depositions led to a criminal prosecution by the new district attorney.

Sixty women reportedly had accused Cosby, a.k.a. America’s Dad for his role as Cliff Huxtable on the long-running sitcom The Cosby Show, of allegedly drugging and molesting them, but the statute of limitations had run out on all but one of the allegations by the time the alleged victims came forward.
In a matter involving one accuser, Cosby was found guilty of three counts of aggravated indecent assault and served about two years of a three-to-10-year sentence. Cosby has consistently maintained his innocence of any allegations.
The BBC blooper did not escape notice on Twitter. Here is some of the satirical reaction:
Think she was ment to say Bill Cosby, but Clinton came to her mind due to his links with Epstein Island hahaha

If you think Bill Cosby has a lot of victims, wait until you hear about Hillary Clinton.

Bill Clinton. Bill Cosby. Either way, if you’re a female, I don’t recommend you being in a room alone with either of them. pic.twitter.com/BEoiFZI3xC
