A British couple mad over the pigeon feces dropping onto their driveway from a tree in their neighbor’s yard decided to handle the problem in an unconventional manner.
They cut the tree in half. Problem solved …
Pigeon feces is no longer dropping onto the driveway because the part of the tree where the feces had been dropping from no longer exists.
Literally.
Look:
Neighbours can be tricky. And so can pigeons. For one person in Waterthorpe he felt he had to take matters into his own hands after the birds kept pooing on his car. The evergreen tree, which overhangs his driveway, had a bit of a trim – and went viral. pic.twitter.com/m3cW71bSOw

That’s certainly one way of handling things.
Speaking with the BBC, the neighbor with the tree, Bharat Mistry, 56, said he’d tried to resolve the matter the old fashioned way after the couple next door complained in March 2020 about it.
There were “several discussions” about trimming the tree or using nets to prevent the pigeons from nesting. Mistry even contacted several tree surgeons and gardeners, but before he could get anything worked out, it was too late.
“You can imagine when he first did it we were angry. Obviously after a couple of days we calmed down a bit,” he told BBC regarding the day that he and his wife found out what the couple next door had done to their once-pristine tree.
In a separate interview with The Guardian, he added, “We were absolutely distraught. We pleaded and pleaded with them not to do it, but their mind was made up. That tree was coming down.”
The two sets of neighbors are reportedly no longer talking, despite the two having previously been somewhat close.
“Ann Wiles, who also lives on the street, said the neighbours had previously organised children’s parties together,” according to the BBC.
“As far as I know they got on well together. We’ve got a lot of pigeons, hundreds of them. We live in the country and you’ve got to accept these things,” she said to the outlet.
According to neighbor Brian Parkes, there’s now pretty much a “war” between the two couples.
“You’ve got to feel sorry for both of them. It looks awful. They’re going to be at one another’s throats now, but it’s done, you can’t undo it. We’ve got a war on our hands with them two,” he said to the BBC.
The upset neighbour has been called “petty”, with one person who lives nearby saying a “war” has broken out on the street because of it. And here we are. Two neighbours who now aren’t speaking to each other and a sad-looking tree. Mr Mistry said it might have to be cut down if it doesn’t survive. But not before it’s become a tourist attraction on a small estate. Sadly, the upset neighbour didn’t chat to me. pic.twitter.com/bMUWfnm3KJ

“When I saw it, I just thought: ‘Oh my God, what a shame.’ It’s a lovely tree and adds to the feature of the house and the street,” another neighbor said to The Guardian.
“It ruins the visual aspect for everyone,” a fourth neighbor added.
Ironically, despite looking “awful,” the tree has transformed the neighborhood into a tourist attraction.
“The picture went viral after it was anonymously sent in to Jeremy Vine’s Channel 5 TV show, and it has been turned into memes on social media, prompting visits from curious people. Mistry’s daughter said the family had become ‘Instagram famous without meaning to,'” according to The Guardian.
Jeremy Vine is a British broadcaster who hosts an eponymously titled weekday morning talk/debate show.

Has this got out of hand? 🌳
A neighbour didn’t like the fact that branches from this tree were hanging over their drive, so they got their shears out and trimmed it back.

The clip seemed to provoke another “war” — this one on Twitter, where some sided with Mistry, and others sided with his tree-cutting neighbors.
Look:
Our neighbour has conifers that they never trim and they block alot of light. So I understand why someone would take action. You shouldn’t have to ask, it is obvious when something needs doing.

This neighbour has just revealed to the world what a small minded idiot they are and probably knocked thousands off the value of the properties. Anyone driving past will look and think, thank the lord I don’t live next to someone like that.

The neighbour is well within their rights to do this. If you want to avoid this situation plant your tree in the middle of your own garden and not on property boundaries!

Pathetic childish behaviour ! ..we should be saving trees not destroying them ..fool !

When the car is on the drive I bet they had bird mess all over the car which is a pain. I can see why they cut it 👍🏻
