After Vice President Kamala Harris’ first and only ostensible visit to the border this week, she immediately rushed home for what appeared to be yet another vacation.

“After spending a few hours in El Paso, Texas, on Friday – on what one Republican described as a ‘parachuting’ visit – the vice president continued west to Los Angeles, where she planned to spend time at her home in the city’s tony Brentwood neighborhood,” Fox News reported Friday.

“It was to mark Harris’ fourth trip to Los Angeles since taking office, reports said – versus her lone trip to the border, which came on the 94th day after she took on the role as manager of the Biden administration’s response to the migrant crisis,” according to Fox News.

Some of her critics have suggested her ostensible border visit was nothing more than a stopover/layover versus a true visit to the border.

The problem with her visit to El Paso, critics say, is that it’s not a known problem area in part because — unlike most of the border — it already benefits from enhanced security. The reason El Paso is so secure, ironically enough, is because of the border wall that was erected by former President Donald Trump’s administration.

“El Paso Sector has experienced a significant reduction in drug and smuggling activities in areas where the new border wall system was built,” the Department of Homeland Security confirmed in a press release last October.

Among Harris’ critics is National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd, who said bluntly in a Fox News interview this week that “you don’t go to El Paso to see what is actually going on at the border.” If the VP had truly been concerned about the border crisis, he added, she’d have visited someplace like McAllen, Texas, or Tucson, Arizona.

But this isn’t just a right-wing talking point. Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar, a Democrat, has said the same. Speaking with Fox News this week, he described the vice president’s layover as a “politically safe” visit meant to just “check the box.”

It doesn’t help that during her visit to El Paso, the vice president “mostly avoid[ed] discussing [the] border,” according to local station KOSA.

“In Harris’ brief stop in El Paso, she barely touched on what’s happening at the American border but rather repeatedly brought up what’s happening in countries like Guatemala and Mexico,” the station reported Friday.

She reportedly reiterated her concern about the so-called “root causes” of the crisis. She appears to think these causes are climate change and the conditions in the illegal aliens’ home countries.

However, the evidence strongly points to the true causes being the Biden administration’s reversal of all of former President Donald Trump’s successful migration policies, including the highly successful Remain in Mexico program.

During a presser after her visit, the vice president “did not address what – if anything – will be done to help border communities within the United States,” according to KOSA.

Sheriff Ronny Dodson of Brewster County, one of the localities included in Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s recent disaster declaration, said in a statement to the station that it was like she doesn’t actually give a damn.

“The government is not listening to us. They’re not listening to their own people. Their own agents. Their border patrol. Their homeland security. They’re not listening,” he told the station.

Indeed, during the visit, Harris reportedly met with illegal aliens and proponents of illegal migration. It’s not clear if she met with any actual border agents.

After the ostensible border visit and presser, the vice president reportedly concluded her day by once again shutting down Los Angeles traffic so that she could enjoy the privilege of being at home.

“If Wilshire Boulevard and the San Diego (405) Freeway seem slower than usual Friday and Saturday, that’s because Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to spend the night at her home in Brentwood,” Patch reported after her arrival.

“The motorcade prompted some temporary closures along the freeway and along residential streets in the West Los Angeles area. .. Motorists in the West Los Angeles area could run into some traffic delays Friday afternoon, officials warned,” the site added.

Her 3,505-square-foot home is located in the upscale neighborhood of Brentwood.

“An aerial view of the posh neighborhood reveals a pool in nearly every yard and even an outdoor basketball court at her neighbor’s house. Senator Harris lives with her husband – intellectual property lawyer, Doug Emhoff – who in addition to a trust bearing both their initials, is the official owner of the house. The couple reported $1.9 million in joint earnings last year,” according to Forbes.
