Ex-ESPN personality Jemele Hill is condemning U.S Senator Joe Manchin as a “cowardly, power-hungry white dude” and “a clown” after he announced that he is voting against the Democrats’ sweeping election reform bill.
Hill, whose past resume includes smearing — without evidence — former President Donald Trump as a white supremacist and his voters as racist, retweeted an Associated Press report of the West Virginia Democrat’s decision to not to go along with his party, along with her own “on-brand” spin.
“This is so on brand for this country. Record number of black voters show up to save this democracy, only for white supremacy to be upheld by a cowardly, power-hungry white dude. @Sen_JoeManchin is a clown,” the failed anchor for SportsCenter (which became derisively known as “WokeCenter” when she was there) who currently writes for The Atlantic, told her 1.4 million Twitter followers.
Manchin authored an editorial in the Charleston, WV, Gazette-Mail, in which he implied that the so-called For the People Act is actually just For the Democrats.
“Unfortunately, we now are witnessing that the fundamental right to vote has itself become overtly politicized…I believe that partisan voting legislation will destroy the already weakening binds of our democracy, and for that reason, I will vote against the For the People Act,” Manchin wrote, in part.
He also reaffirmed his opposition to eliminating the filibuster, a parliamentary procedure which currently requires the approval of at least 60 lawmakers to move forward on most legislation pending in the U.S. Senate.

The 800-page Democrat bill would effectively nationalize election law and enshrine many of the voting changes adopted by officials and authorized by courts in key battleground states that led to so much chaos and vote fraud suspicion among the MAGA cohort following last year’s elections.
In addition to preempting states’ ability to verify the accuracy of voter rolls, the bill favored by Jemele Hill and her left-wing followers would also effectively eliminate photo ID requirements and force all states to implement early voting, automatic voter registration, same-day registration, online voter registration and no-fault/no-excuse absentee balloting. It also legalizes ballot harvesting across the country.
Manchin, whose role in the 50-50 Senate makes him perhaps the most influential politician in America, appeared on Fox News Sunday and restated his opposition to the bill, even though he says he agrees with some of its provisions.
“Voting is the bedrock of our democracy — an open, fair, secured voting…I think it’s the wrong piece of legislation to bring our country together and unite our country, and I’m not supporting that because I think it would divide us further. I don’t want to be in a country that’s divided any further than I’m in right now,” the senator told host Chris Wallace.

Jemele Hill’s tweet won lots of praise, of course, in doom-and-gloom liberal social media precincts, although some offered a different view. Here is a sampling:

Pissed about what? Because someone is being asked to produce ID to vote? Or some made up BS about voter suppression? If they are pissed about those things they need to turn off liberal media and get a life

I’m a black voter. I don’t like what the republicans are doing, but tell me again why people who really want to vote can’t vote because of this? Save the filibuster for something else down the line that could be more important.

There are reports out there that indicate he’s not the only Democrat in the Senate that opposes the bill. But the political dynamics of his constituency allows him to make public stances, take the heat and cover for his colleagues.
