Fox News drone team releases phenomenal footage of migrant surge being apprehended by border patrol

A Fox News crew using a drone captured stunning aerial footage of dozens of people avoiding Border Patrol agents in pursuit, with many crossing illegally into the United States as the Biden administration’s migrant crisis worsens.

The footage, which was reportedly shot on Sunday, showed more than 40 migrants, all of whom appeared to be men, running along the U.S.-Mexico border before some detoured into the U.S.

At one point, a single Border Patrol agent can be seen pursuing more than a dozen migrants in a pickup truck, while additional footage showed another agent pursuing about a half-dozen migrants on foot.

The remarkable footage is merely the latest documentation of the ongoing border crisis that began shortly after President Joe Biden took office. And while illegal migrant crossings began to rise before former President Donald Trump left office on Jan. 20, analysts believe that Biden’s pledges to reverse his predecessor’s immigration and border enforcement policies including re-implementing “catch-and-release” have led to the current record surges.

Fox LA and Fox News Network correspondent Bill Melugin reported during the segment that what viewers saw is a regular, everyday occurrence in that sector of the border, which is among the busiest of all. He went on to report as well that the particular migrant group, comprised of mostly younger men, seen by the Fox News drone crew differed from most others in that they chose to simply cross illegally rather than turn themselves in to federal border authorities.

As for the group captured on aerial video, Melugin said Border Patrol agents eventually rounded up about 15 or so, but the others may have either gotten away into the U.S. or escaped back into Mexico.

He went on to play a clip of “about 53 migrants” who turned themselves in to agents, most of whom came from Romania, as well as some from Venezuela, Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador.

Melugin then introduced a clip of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott telling Fox News’s Maria Bartiromo earlier Sunday he is sending additional law enforcement and other resources to the border to assist overworked and beleaguered Border Patrol and federal immigration agents.

But while Abbott is concerned about the number of people crossing illegally into the U.S., he said he is more concerned about the cartels’ drug-smuggling operations, which have ramped up considerably since Biden took office as well.

“The Texas Department of Public Safety patrols the border every day, and they’ve seen an 800 percent increase in the amount of fentanyl coming across the border,” he said. “They seized, this year, enough fentanyl to kill every man, woman, and child in the entire state of New York.”

Melugin went on to note that, in addition to drugs, firearms are being smuggled into Mexico, showing a photo featuring a cache of more than 16 firearms and 3,500 rounds of ammunition — including a .50 cal. sniper rifle — that Texas authorities intercepted recently.

“Just another of the many ongoing security concerns” along the border, Melugin stated.

Biden placed Vice President Kamala Harris in charge of dealing with the crisis along the border, but she has yet to even conduct an on-site visit, let alone appear to be producing any positive results.

Republicans have roundly criticized both Biden and Harris for the border — the former for reversing Trump’s enforcement policies, and the latter for outwardly showing little interest in tackling the problem.
